As we were discussing the Torah portion for Tazria my husband recently pointed out to me that Yeshua when he came appeared like the other biblical Prophets. People said that they wondered if He might have been Elijah or another prophet however Peter said you are the messiah, the son of God. Yeshua said this was revealed to you by the Spirit.

Why is it that the Holy Spirit had to reveal this hadn’t they spent time with Yeshua? Other than his birth (which Mary regarded in her heart) death and resurrection there was not a marked difference than Yeshua being another prophet of old. And these events (virgin birth and resurrection) you had to witness yourself or you wouldn’t have believed it.

I thought that Yeshua did miracles that no other man had done. The men of Yeshua’s time did not seem to think he was more than a mere man prophet at best. But you say he healed, turned a meal for one into a meal for thousands so did other prophets. Elijah, and Elisha healed the sick, raised the dead and multiplied food (2 Kings 4:42-43; 5:14; Matthew 8:1-4; 11:2-6; Luke 7:18-23). Elijah was taken to heaven miraculously, after Elisha died his bones raised up dead bodies. Yeshua did do more miracles however the history of the Jewish is full of miracles from Manna to Hanukkah.

So how is it that we come to believe that He was more? We have evidence in the Word, history and conditioning through the years. His miraculous birth that we know of thru the gospels they didn’t have the gospels when Yeshua was born. Yeshua raised men from the dead so did other prophets. So how do we know He is the one?

We have much more evidence now than they had back in His day. His disciples did not completely understand his call they just had faith that he was the Messiah. Peter wanted to build Yeshua a Mishkan or temple when he saw him speaking with Elijah and Moses. Yeshua said no He would build and tear His body the new temple in 3 days (Matthew 16:14-23; 17:3-13; 12:40; 26:61; 27:40,63; Mark 14:58; 15:29; John 2:19-20; Acts 9:9).

So Yeshua didn’t come to live in a temple why is that? Why turn down the very center of Jewish life? How could this be? Yeshua wanted to be the center of life in general. Where we wouldn’t need a curtain to hide behind He wanted to walk with us as He told the nation of Israel He wanted them to be prophets. He has now made us prophets and promised that greater works we will do.

The rituals done in the temple was what he wanted us to do in life without a veil. May our prayers be as sweet incense. Yeshua came to be with his people without restriction. Why would a Holy God want to sit down and eat with sinful man there is none righteous no not one. Why not have his people access him through ritually clean priest?

What does saved and sanctified mean? How are we saved and saved from what?  We are the priesthood of the new covenant, a royal priesthood, after the order of Melkizedek. The veil in the Mishkan was torn so that we can now go boldly before the mercy-seat. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are the priesthood of the Renewed Covenant.
