The Destructions Of The gods Of Egypt Through The Plagues, The Time Of Our Deliverance and Moshienu (Our Deliverer) ***King Egypt’To’Tech Special Edition***

Moses Pleading with Israel, as in Deuteronomy ...The period of time between Pesach and Shavout is called the Time of our Deliverance. It is believed that the time it took from the physical Deliverance from Egypt to the time that the Law was given was a time in which Adonai was healing the minds of the Israelites and delivering them mentally. As can be seen with the stories of water, food and the people K’vetching over things they missed. This is the “time of our deliverance.” During this time we should seek to be prepared to receive the Torah into our lives and the Ruach HaKoddesh.

Observe the connection between Moshe (Moses) and Moshiach which mean Deliverer or Messiah respectively and share a common root. Yeshua and Moshe deliver us from the gods of this world. Observe how Yehoshua (Joshua) and Yeshua (Jesus) are connect and both mean Yah is My Savior. As we observe Moshe leads the Yisrael out of Egypt and then Yehoshua observes Pesach with Yisrael (Exodus 12; Joshua 5:10-11).

Yehoshua and Moshe are pictures of Yeshua HaMoshiach (Ha means The) observing and fulfilling Pesach (Luke 22). Yeshua our Messiah observed Pesach and has commanded us to do “This” likewise in remembrance of me. Just as Moshiach Yeshua, Joshua and Moses observed so should we. Let’s take a look into scriptures discourse on Passover, Unleavened Bead and First Fruit. And then I want to explore in detail how the Plagues and miracles that Moses manifested were aimed to destroy the public image and societal power of the G-ds of Egypt. Let’s first take a look at the celebrations that we observe to commemorate them.

The L-rds Pesach-Moshienu-Our Deliverer

“On the next day, he saw Yeshua coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). “In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, is the LORD’s Pesach.” (Leviticus 23:5). “Avraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.” (Genesis 22:8).

Yeshua is the L-ds Pesach, this day was set-apart unto the L-rd as His day. And it is symbolic of Yeshua who came and became our Passover Lamb. This is the day of Preparation for the Passover meal that would have been ate at the time Yeshua was consumed in the earth. It is important to understand that Yeshua is Adonai’s Pesach. The Feast or Meal of Pesach was eaten on Nisan 15th, the High Shabbat of HaMotzi. Yeshua had the training Seder for His disciples the night He was betrayed so they would have known what to do.

Passover: The Festival of Unleavened Bread

“Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the matzah of sincerity and truth.” (1 Corinthians 5:8). “On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of matzah to the LORD: seven days you shall eat matzah.” (Leviticus 23:6). “I will bring the third part into the fire, And will refine them as silver is refined, And will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, ‘It is my people;’ And they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’”" (Zechariah 13:9).

This is what has come to be known as Passover, Nisan 15th is the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the night of the Traditional Seder. This is a day of complete rest a Holy Convocation, a High Shabbat.

The Feast of First Fruits/The Count Of The Omer

“But each in his own order: Messiah the first fruits, then those who are Messiah’s, at his coming.” (1 Corinthians 15:23). “Speak to the children of Yisra’el, and tell them, When you are come into the land which I give to you, and shall reap the harvest of it, then you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the Kohen,” (Leviticus 23:10). “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the eretz shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” (Daniel 12:2).

Yeshua is our First Fruits. The First Day of the Count of The Omer is First Fruits. This falls on Nisan 16th with the only exception that Nisan 16th is a Shabbat then it falls on Nisan 17th. Between the Pharisee’s, Saducee‘s, Karaites and Rabbinic Judaism there are debates over whether the Omer Count or First Fruit fall on Nisan 16th or the Sunday after Nisan 15th. The majority opinion is that Nisan 16th is the first day of the Omer Count. According to the Sanhedrin (Bet Din) at the time of Yeshua this was the count. The current Sanhedrin (Bet Din) which is waiting for the temple to be rebuilt they uphold the Nisan 16th count. There are arguments for an against. Suffice it to say if you observe First Fruits on Nisan 16th or the Sunday after Nisan 15th you are seeking to obey Torah, find comfort in that.

Here are some Passover basics that we should already understand. Pesach (Passover), Hag haMatzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread). and Firstfruits are a picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Yeshua as our pure free from leaven Passover lamb who became the firstborn of many brethren. Some have tried to connect Yeshua to the Red Heifer of Yom Kippur when scripture clearly connects Yeshua to our Passover Lamb. Yeshua’s Offering-Sacrifice was overseen by the Priest’s and Rabbi’s who were from the Levitical Order. They in effect tenured their resignation and disposed their Priesthood while Yeshua was re-instituted the Order of Melchizedek.

Yeshua’s sacrifice as Adonai’s Pesach is a fulfillment of Jeremiah 33. Berit translates to Greek as Diatheke which means Promise not so much Covenant. We are Children of Promise through Avraham. Herod who built the Second temple which stood in Yeshua’s time was an Edomite. He was a descendant of Avraham through Esau. The Edomite’s believed they were heirs to the promises of Avraham. As part of the Renewed Covenant Yeshua writes His laws on our heart at salvation we are new creatures in Him and we too become heirs. The temple of Yeshua’s Body was destroyed and raised in three days and this completely fulfilled all that was required to make all His followers Prophets, a Royal Priesthood and a Holy Nation. As Adonai originally intended when the people declared that they wanted Moses to mediate for them. Eventually they even rejected Adonai as ruler and asked for a physical king instead of maintaining the Ha-Shem ordained Theocracy.

The story of Passover is about Adonai’s deliverance from Egypt, removing the leaven out and preparing for the promised land. Kvetching and complaining in the wilderness is why many did not enter the promised land. We must clean out the Leaven of Egypt (the influence of the world), the Leaven of the Pharisee’s (doctrines of men) and the Doctrine of Balaam (sloppy agape-using grace-”election” as a license to sin). We must seek to be without the Spot’s of the Leaven of the Pharisee’s and without the Wrinkles of Balaam’s Doctrine. We must be as the virgins without spot or wrinkle.

The feast of unleavened bread is seven days because that’s how long it took to get the leaven of Egypt out of their hearts, we must leave the world. The idea of spring cleaning comes from the Biblical tradition of removing Chametz. Followed by Counting the Omer and Shavout (Pentecost: the 50th or Feast of weeks), which is the commemoration of the giving of Torah (Truth) and dissension of the gift of the Ruach haKadosh. The redemptive word of Adonai’s Pesach the Firstborn of the Dead, the New Adam was able to free covenant and non covenant people equally. Let us look at the Plagues of Passover and their judgments against the gods of Egypt and see what we can find in relation to our own deliverance.

The Ten Dethronements of Egyptian Dietes aka the Ten Plagues

The Plagues Were Judgments Against the gods of Egypt

Adonai went through the land and struck down the first-born sons throughout the land of Egypt. No one was spared not even beast. This was done “against all the gods of Egypt” that Adonai executee judgments, (Exodus 12:12; 18:11; Numbers 33:4; Joshua 24:14; 2 Samuel 7:23Psalms 135:8,9). Following the exodus Israel song “who is like the among the gods, Oh Adonai.” The L-rd is G-d and none is above Him. He will not suffer His people to be persecuted at the hand of false G-ds without showing them to be false. Lets look at how the plagues of Eqypt affected their impression of Egyptian gods. Much like Elijah and the Prophets of Baal this was a direct challenge against the religion of Egypt. In antiquity there is a period of time that the Egyptians turn to worshiping one deity, many date that period to have come after the Exodus. Things were changed and challenged by these miracles. Lets look at the meaning and impact of the plagues.

Some scholars say there we’re a total of forty to fifty plagues, in the commentary the discussion include’s the other things that would have happened in conjunction with the plagues. There is debate recorded in the Passover Haggadah between Rabbi Yossi, Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Akiva over whether their were ten, forty or fifty plagues. Rabbi Yossi believed that as the text states there were only ten. Rabbi Eliezer believed that the plagues multiplied the woe of Egypt four fold by Fury, Indignation, Trouble and Discharge of Messengers of Evil. However Rabbi Akiva believed that the sorrows were multiplied by His Fierce Anger, Fury, Indignation, Trouble and Discharge of Messengers of Evil. I don’t know if this be the case. However this is interesting to consider.

Pre-Plague Judgments & Preparation

“Afterward Moshe and Aharon came, and said to Par`oh, “This is what the LORD, the God of Yisra’el, says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’” (Exodus 5:1).

Here we see Moshe’s approach Pharoah to let Adonai’s people go. This is the set up for the plagues. As Pharoah hardens his heart the judgments become stronger and more intense. Adonai gave Pharoah many chances. Nine times he hardened his heart probably aided in his belief in the nine deities in the end Adonai hardens his heart after the ninth and final judgment of the deities. In the end Pharoah is destroyed in the sea with no heir to fill the throne.

“Moshe and Aharon went in to Par`oh, and they did so, as the LORD had commanded: and Aharon cast down his rod before Par`oh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.” (Exodus 7:10).

Even though the Pharoah’s magicians were able to duplicate the miracle Moshe’s ate theirs up. There are a lot of Cobra’s used in Egyptian art as a symbol or royal power. The Pharoah’s head-piece right above the forehead there is a Cobra ready to strike, on King Tut’s throne there is a coiled Cobra, there is a temple in Memphis which features Cobra’s in a Mortuary. Much like the spirit of Kundalini and Python the Cobra was a deity of worship and veneration in ancient Egypt. To challenge the symbol or the snake or Cobra was to challenge the place of Pharoah as ruler and deity of Egypt. This wasn’t a plague perse however it was a show of Adonai’s power to the Egyptian people. In antiquity the Egyptian’s prayed to the nine high gods, when you include Pharoah who was believed to be a god among men, the plagues may have been a direct assault on the nine high deities. As we see in this pre-plague miracle that Adonai was dethroning the deities of Egypt.

The Judgment of the dieties of The Nile

“Moshe and Aharon did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Par`oh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.” (Exodus 7:20).

It was believed that Ra created the Nile to nourish life. All the fish in the Nile would have died from this plague. Fish were sacred animals in Egypt. The nile river was believed to be the giver of life. This was a direct attack on the belief of who gave life. This was possibly a judgment against the spirits of the Nile, Hapi who was the Nile diety (believed to be the sustainer of life) who came during the annual floods, Sati who was related to blood, Sothis the ruler of flood waters, Khnum the ruler of cool water, Osiris because the Nile was called ”the life blood of Osiris,” Ra who created the Nile and the fish goddess “Hatmet.” The changing of water to blood was an affront to their view of what they believed to be a sacred river. This would be very offensive and demoralizing. Think about it all you primary deities can not answer or help you as they are torn down. The commerce and economics were also challenged by the fact that trade and daily economics had to be affected by this calamity. This would have affected their monetary power that was based on wooden coins with the image of a Scarub (or Dung) beetle on them. Trade in Egypt had to come to a stand still and all the people of Mitzraim would have stopped what they were doing to pay attention to this tragedy. Just think how the tragedy of 911 stopped America. If all boats were grounded much like the flights that were grounded everything would have come to a hault. This was very significant that their river of life became full of death and dead fish.

The Judgment Of Frogs

“The LORD spoke to Moshe, Go in to Par`oh, and tell him, “This is what the LORD says, ‘Let my people go, that they may serve me. If you refuse to let them go, behold, I will plague all your borders with frogs: and the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into your house, and into your bedchamber, and on your bed, and into the house of your servants, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading-troughs: and the frogs shall come up both on you, and on your people, and on all your servants.’” Exodus 8:1-4

Hekt was a frog headed goddess who was the harvest diety that brough fruitfulness and whom had a hand in creation according to Egyptian mythology. This would have been a judgment of the fertility cult regarding frogs. Frog legs have been believed to be an aphrodisiac. Adonai has a passionate dislike for fertility cults throughout scripture especially Asheruh and May poles. Many of the ancient religions share common beliefs and practices rooted in the Babylonian mystery religion. These pagan religions we’re refined by the Egyptians and Persians, and later by the Greco-Romans and Anglo-Saxons.

The Judgment Of Lice

“The LORD said to Moshe, “Tell Aharon, ‘Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the eretz, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Mitzrayim.’” They did so; and Aharon stretched out his hand with his rod, and struck the dust of the eretz, and there were lice on man, and on animal; all the dust of the eretz became lice throughout all the land of Mitzrayim.” (Exodus 8:16-17).

This plague caused the Magicians to attribute this judgment to the “finger of G-d,” (Exedox 8:19). The lice or gnats seem to have affected the concepts of Seth the ruler of Chaos, Pha’oah a man-diety who symbolized purity and Osiris the ruler of the underworld and vegetation. The fact that the Magician’s could not duplicate this miracle as in the blood or serpents is significant as this was going beyond the point or natural magic or sorcery. These were clear acts of Adonai and not just trick or sleight of hand. This miracle got the attention of the Magician’s and all of Egypt.

The Judgment Of Flies

“The LORD said to Moshe, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Par`oh; behold, he comes forth to the water; and tell him, ‘This is what the LORD says, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. Else, if you will not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you, and on your servants, and on your people, and into your houses: and the houses of the Mitzrim shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.” (Exodus 8:20-21).

The judgment of flies and beetles judged the Scarab beetle, Uatchit the diety who oppressed Egypt’s enemies, Khephera the god of resurrection who was a Scarab headed deity believed to be a manifestation of Atum or Ra. Also Beelzebub (the deity of the flies) which is similar to Sam Hein (the L-rd of the flies), Egyptian soldiers who received a golden fly as a medal of honor for valor and the Egyptian priesthood since they wore scarab charms. Already suffering a blow when commerce came to a pause at the blood in the river, now suffering a direct blow. The image of the Scarab was defiled and shamed. The most sacred of deities of Egypt were being laid bare and empty.

The Judgment of Pestilence

“Then the LORD said to Moshe, “Go in to Par`oh, and tell him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 2 For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still, behold, the hand of the LORD is on your cattle which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence.” (Exodus 9:1-3).

The judgment of pestilence, said to be a form of Anthrax or Murrain, would have judged Pharoah who was symbolized as a bull in the hymn of Amon, Hathor the cow headed love goddess, Ptah the protector of animals, Amon-Ra the bull god of Heliopolis and Themustis the ruler over vegetation as well as Ptah and Amon who were also connected with cow’s. It interesting that cow’s are sacred in many religions around the world to the point of veneration by Hindu’s that they will not kill or eat a cow. Which is the opposite of not eating pig’s which are unclean. This was biological warfare. It is interesting that Anthrax is believed to come from the decaying flesh of a dead cow’s carcus. This had to have a demoralizing effect on the Egyptians. All their sources of food, sustenance and commerce we systemically being destroyed along with the gods and deities they would have cried out to for help.

The Judgment Of The Boils

“The LORD said to Moshe and to Aharon, “Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moshe sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Par`oh. It shall become small dust over all the land of Mitzrayim, and shall be a boil breaking forth with boils on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Mitzrayim.” They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Par`oh; and Moshe sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became a boil breaking forth with boils on man and on animal. The magicians couldn’t stand before Moshe because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Mitzrim.” (Exodus 9:8-11).

The boil’s judged the priest of Egypt and the ritual of casting ashes, Pharoah, the Egyptian people, against Im-Hotep the god of healing, and Sekhmet the bringer of healing and is said to had healing abilities. The Egyptian people would have been crying out for healing and their gods wouldn’t have answered in much the same fashion that Elijah challenges the prophets of baal. The priest and deities of Egypt were systematically being called out and shown to be false and incapable of helping.

The Judgment of Hail

“Those who feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Par`oh made their servants and their cattle flee into the houses. Whoever didn’t regard the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field. The LORD said to Moshe, “Stretch forth your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Mitzrayim, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Mitzrayim.” Moshe stretched forth his rod toward the heavens, and the LORD sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the eretz. The LORD rained hail on the land of Mitzrayim. So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Mitzrayim since it became a nation.” (Exodus 9:13-24).

Hail judged Nut the goddess who protected the skies and the mother of the sun-god Ra, Amun-Ra the deity of the sun, Geb the ruler of the earth, and Osiris the ruler of the underworld and vegetation. The flax and barley were hit as well according to Exodus 9:31 which was used in clothe’s making and mummification. This would have affected the textiles industry. We have some major socio-economic factors that are being devastated in this process. From chemical warfare to commerce all aspects of society experience real and psychologically demoralizing effects.

The Judgement of Locust

“Moshe and Aharon went in to Par`oh, and said to him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me. Or else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country, and they shall cover the surface of the eretz, so that one won’t be able to see the eretz. They shall eat the residue of that which has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field. Your houses shall be filled, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Mitzrim; as neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the eretz to this day.’” He turned, and went out from Par`oh.” (Exodus 10:3-6).

The tree’s, houses and everything left by the hail was judged and the eye of the sun on earth was darkened. This in effect judged the deities Khepri Selket over Insects, Senehem the Locust headed diety, Anubus the protector of Crops, and eye of Ra, the sun was darkened while the sun was shining which discredited his power. As you can see this is a systematic attack on the deities of Egypt.

The Judgment Of Darkness

“The LORD said to Moshe, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Mitzrayim, even darkness which may be felt.” Moshe stretched forth his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Mitzrayim three days. They didn’t see one another, neither did anyone rise from his place for three days; but all the children of Yisra’el had light in their dwellings.” (Exodus 10:21-23).

Egypt experience three days of darkness, just as Noah was in the belly of a whale for three days and nights, so was Yeshua in the belly of the earth for three days and three nights. This was further judgment on the moon-god Thoth, Nut the goddess of sky, and the sun-diety Ra who brought light and warmth. There is no great or little god left to protect the Egyptian people. From their great to little gods they have been laid bare and empty.

The Judgment Of The Firstborn

“Moshe said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Mitzrayim, 5 and all the firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim shall die, from the firstborn of Par`oh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the maid-servant who is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of cattle. 6 There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Mitzrayim, such as there has not been, nor shall be any more.” (Exodus 11:4-6).

This was a judgment on Taweret Hippoptamus the protective deity of child-birth, Osiris the ruler of the under-world, Isis the mother goddess, Horus the son of Ra, Min the fertility deity, Pharaohs deity, the book of the Dead, and the Egyptian priesthood. This was an all out tactical war on the gods of Egypt. Amon-Ra was the sun-god and Pharoah by extension was the son of the sun-god. This was an attack on the chief deities on earth to the Egyptians, to the direct representatives of these deities the Pharoah’s and priests. Pharoah’s offspring was believed to be Horus the son of the sun-god who would be the next god of Egypt. The Pharoah’s son was treated as every other living thing, along with the firstborn of the cattle’s so as to not allow the idea of the deification of man over beast. In the Egyptian mind this had to be demoralizing as their mindsets and beliefs were being completely laid bare and empty. Much like the Egyptian’s who killed the sons of Israel, Adonai killed the first-born sons of Egypt. The governmental powers, organization, theocratic powers conferred by belief in these deities were all confronted and defeated. It was shown that there is no god in Egypt or the Earth but the true G-d of Israel.

The Final Judgment Of Pharoah

“”Speak to the children of Yisra’el, that they turn back and encamp before Pi-Hachirot, between Migdol and the sea, before Ba`al-Tzefon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea… The Mitzrim pursued after them: all the horses and chariots of Par`oh, his horsemen, and his army; and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-Hachirot, before Ba`al-Tzefon.” (Exodus 14:2, 9).

After having lost his son, suffered ten plagues, lost his economic power and theocratic power as well as seen the socio-econimic demise of Egypt Pharoah decided to chase the Israelites down. Even the gods of Canaan were not exempt from shaming Pharoah went down in front of Baal-Zephon the god of storms. The deity Baal was equated to the deity Seth and the cruel sea was believed to be a manifestation of Seti. After this demoralizing defeat at the hands of the G-d of Israel the Egyptians had to be defeated. A new Pharoah came to power and declared Egypt a form of monotheism. The Egyptian’s didn’t record this calamity because the Pharoah and his son were killed. Egypt got a new start just as Israel got a new start.

Lets meditate on our freedom from Egypt and the world as we seek deliverance during this season of deliverance as we prepare to receive the Ruach HaKodsesh and Torah at Shavout.
