Every once in a while here I make statement about things that are challenging, because many haven’t studied on the topics presented before. Recently while discussion Calvinism and Armenianism I made a statement about the Jehovah’s Witness, and a Jehovah’s Witness decided to take me to task on the issue. The issue was that I stated there is a connection between Adventism and The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (the early JW movement) as a response to hyper-Calvinism. Here is my response.
The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (aka Jehovah’s Witness), Second Adventist and 7th Day Adventist leaders and founders were having bible studies together at the time of their inception this is something that can be readily studied out. There are plenty of books and internet articles that include these fact. Charles Taze Russell was reacting to Predestination as it was taught by Calvinist. I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness and since have come to the L-rd, yet I have studied their Church history. Let’s take a look at statements about early Adventist and The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society which later became Jehovah’s Witnesses when Judge Rutherforg tookover.
They “refused to adopt the doctrines of the immortality of the soul and the trinity.” – David C Pack
Speaking on the Adventist and Church of God’s shared beliefs with the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, Second Adventist, Church of God and Seventh Day Adventist in their birth stages where connected together by shared beliefs as well as their leaders, bible studies and students they shared information and values. They parted ways eventually, the fact is they did share common views, a rejection of Hell and Predestination was a major point they agreed in and that brought them together. Calvinism is what created the schism they responded to. Charles Taze Russell the founder of the Watchtower society that spawned the Russellites and Jehovah’s Witness left bible school because he disagreed with Calvinism and that is why he started the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, when he started off he was having bible studies along with the leader of the Second Adventist movement.
“William Miller, pronounced that Christ would return about the time of 1843 to 1844.” – David C Pack
That is where they got all their failed end time date prophecies based upon a false view and interpretation of the Mayan calendar from William Miller. Charles Taze Russell graves stone is a pyramid. If you need further proof do a google search and you can find some relevant information on the connection to Freemasonry and Jehovah’s Witnesses. William Miller was behind the phenomenon in the 1800′s of the movements people seeking to pin the tail on the donkey end time prophets. For information about the modern Jehovahs Witnesses end-time prophecies go here.
“Shortly after the Seventh-day Adventist movement began around 1860, the Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW) movement started. This organization was started in Pennsylvania by Charles Taze Russell, and was established as a religious society of ministers. “The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was incorporated in 1884 with Russell as president…The Society’s magazine, Watchtower, was first published in 1879,” David C Pack
The Church of God movement, eventually gave birth to the Seventh Day Adventist Movement. The Second Adventist movement and Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (later known as the Jehovah’s Witnesses) were born during this time and at times shared bible students and common beliefs. Being raised a Jehovah’s Witness I know their history and have studied it out for myself. I have also spent almost fifteen years study Church history, the first ten years it was primarily the reformation, the past five to ten its become more of an early church research.
As the critique rightly says the cults appears a few hundred years after Calvinism was first postulated. What came first the chicken or the egg? Calvinism had to exist for them to reject and respond to it right? Oh okay glad we got that clear. Yes Seventh Day Adventist and Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (JW’s) are Arminian as a response and reaction to Calvinism. Yet the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah’s Witnesses) teach a 144,000 elect chosen elders who are elite? Isn’t that a conflicting doctrine? Cults don’t always make sense. Calvinism is connected to Calvin right? The idea started with him the five points are based off his teaching, right? I was rebuked for saying Calvin instead of Calvinism oh so sad. The point matter more than conjecture and bad critique. Calvinism is a response to Arminianism. The vile way the Calvinist bishops defrocked the Arminian bishops smacks of Catholic witch hunts and quackery. Anyways, I really don’t want to talk about the horrible way that they handle the council or Dort. I left that out because we’ll I was trying to keep it on the points of agreement, contention and potential growth.
Technically Mr Russel founded the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society which is apart of the global organization of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. There was a split after his death and some who didn’t like the direction of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, left the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society which remains to this day apart of the Jehovah’s Witnesses religious organization. Also Charles Taze Russel comes from the Russel family which is of Masonic origins along with the Rutherfords, Rockefellers and Rothschilds. Most Masons will deny being a Mason since its a “secret” society of brothers. However Charles Taze Russel admitted to being a “free and accepted mason” and that the “masons are our brothers” um they are no brothers of mine. Light has no fellowship with darkness. He preached on the similarities of Masonry and his view of Christianity. His grave stone is a pyramid which he called the heavenly temple and used the measurements of the pyramid to date the end times. There is a lot more that could be said. However time does not permit and well there are other things we could do with our time than vainly debate a mute point. Russel claimed to be a “free and accepted mason” and claimed that his brothers had a lot in common with “masons,” one of his grave stones is a pyramid, of which he called the heavenly temple off of which him and the others Adventist 2nd to 7th day and Church of God believed to point to the end of days originally initiated with the return of Christ in the 1800′s and the end of days in 1914. Those in the Masonic brotherhood were behind world war 1 and seemed to try to bring this false end time prediction to pass however their scheme didn’t pan out. You can not force G-ds hand. G-d does things in His own way and time.
I don’t provide all the sources because I don’t have the time and I’m not a paid researcher. I would love to go back through the books I’ve read and go through libraries and provide research evidence. This is a blog and I have a family and a life. I don’t have the time to devote to re-inventing the wheel when I have done the research for many years. The fact is I do know what I am speaking about and its based in fact. I felt a call to start writing blogs about what I believe because people need to know things I’ve learned that many aren’t being told. I’m just sharing the truth as I’ve learned it. Now when I write I write my opinions views or slant or understanding of that. Much of my blog was originally written as papers for classes I was taking in bible school, some where sermons and messages I’ve actually preached. For now this blog is one of the ways I preach the good news. With the amount of people who view this blog daily and monthly it is a pulpit to reach people. I seek to inform, inspire and encourage people. I do seek to set the captives free with the liberating truth in Yeshua that resonates throughout the word yet many preachers don’t speak it. So there it is. Why I do what I do.

- 1897 “Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since October 1874,” (Studies in the Scriptures, vol. 4, p. 621).
- 1899 “…the ‘battle of the great day of God Almighty’ (Revelation 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced,” (The Time Is at Hand, 1908 edition, p. 101).
- 1916 “The Bible chronology herein presented shows that the six great 1000
year days beginning with Adam are ended, and that the great 7th Day, the
1000 years of Christ’s Reign, began in 1873,” (The Time Is at Hand, forward, p. ii).- 1918 “Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly
those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human
perfection,” (Millions Now Living Will Never Die, p. 89).- 1922 “The date 1925 is even more distinctly indicated by the Scriptures than 1914,” (Watchtower, Sept. 1, 1922, p. 262).
- 1923 “Our thought is, that 1925 is definitely settled by the Scriptures. As
to Noah, the Christian now has much more upon which to base his faith
than Noah had upon which to base his faith in a coming deluge,” (Watchtower, Apr. 1, 1923, p. 106).- 1925 “The year 1925 is here. With great expectation Christians have looked
forward to this year. Many have confidently expected that all members of
the body of Christ will be changed to heavenly glory during this year.
This may be accomplished. It may not be. In his own due time God will
accomplish his purposes concerning his people. Christians should not be
so deeply concerned about what may transpire this year,” (Watchtower, Jan. 1, 1925, p. 3).- 1925 “It is to be expected that Satan will try to inject into the minds of
the consecrated, the thought that 1925 should see an end to the work,” (Watchtower, Sept., 1925, p. 262).- 1926 “Some anticipated that the work would end in 1925, but the Lord did not
state so. The difficulty was that the friends inflated their
imaginations beyond reason; and that when their imaginations burst
asunder, they were inclined to throw away everything,” (Watchtower, p. 232).- 1931 “There was a measure of disappointment on the part of Jehovah’s
faithful ones on earth concerning the years 1917, 1918, and 1925, which
disappointment lasted for a time…and they also learned to quit fixing
dates,” (Vindication, p. 338).- 1941 “Receiving the gift, the marching children clasped it to them, not a toy
or plaything for idle pleasure, but the Lord’s provided instrument for
most effective work in the remaining months before Armageddon,” (Watchtower, Sept. 15, 1941, p. 288).- 1968 “True, there have been those in times past who predicted an ‘end to the
world’, even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The
‘end’ did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was
missing?.. Missing from such people were God’s truths and evidence that
he was using and guiding them,” (Awake, Oct. 8, 1968).- 1968 “Why are you looking forward to 1975?” (Watchtower, Aug. 15, 1968, p. 494)

1st let me begin by stating that I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I personally do not have a problem with you stating your opinion (regarding the original post mentioned in this post). The Bible is a finite book, of course religions and religious beliefs will overlap. I do however have a problem with you presenting yourself as having been raised as a Jehovah’s Witness and having “studied” their history. You state “Yet Jehovah’s Witnesses teach a 144,000 elect chosen elders who are elite?” Ummm, we do? How long were you raised as a Witness and at what age? 144,000 elders? No, God chooses men and women from various races and backgrounds. For what? We believe Revelation 5 and 7 that there will be 144,000 that will rule as kings and priests. Jesus stated that those with a heavenly calling were a LITTLE flock. Who will they rule over? Psalms 37 says the wicked will be destroyed and the meek shall inherit the earth and live forever on it. The Lords Prayer says: Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as in heaven. By your posted source (http://carm.org/jehovahs-witnesses-and-theiry-false-prophecies) it is easy to see what kind of research you do. Posting partial quotes from sources who are admitted detractors of Jehovah’s Witnesses is not doing research. Having read some of the articles posted, I can see that important lines were conveniently omitted from the quotes. Then again, I’m not sure what the crime is committed by stating that a certain date may have significance, but to each their own. If that’s the deal breaker for you, move on. If it’s worshiping a God that torments non believers forever, pass on religions that teach hellfire, if it bothers you to add beliefs from Babylonian teachings to Christianity, pass on religions that teach the trinity….to each his own.
How long was I a Jehovah’s Witness? That doesn’t matter so much. You can read my testimony on Carm. I was witnessing, going door to door, doing bible studies, attending theocratic ministry school since the second grade through early college years. I’ve read JW’s material’s and books. I was a JW until about 20 years old. Its all I knew growing up. You may have a problem with the facts. I’ve read the JW lliterature on their own past and beliefs. I don’t personally have any of the books right now. The JW doctrine has changed over the years because they may have changed what they believe now doesn’t mean that haven’t at one point. My mom and sister are still active witnesses so whether you belief it or not it doesn’t matter. Carm is a solid theological and apologetic ministry that is thorough and effective yet if your a JW you would have a problems since it calls your religion a cult. So thats a biased to reject the info based on your disgust for their perception of you and faulty logic.
Funny so you try to say I was wrong about the 144,000 and then make my point by saying the “little flock” of 144,000 will rule over the new earth. You say you believe Revelation 5-7 but it says they will be Jews from all Twelve Tribes of Israel, do you believe that? No, you denomination believe’s their gentiles. Thats not what the bible says. Funny how you leave out a portion of the text about the 144,000 being Jews from the 12 tribes but say you believe somehow Gentiles will be the little flock or remnant of 144,000 elect chosen one’s who are Jewish to preach the gospel during the tribulation.
Yeshua said the meek shall inherit the earth. So the whole proverbs things is a little skewed. You know you can go online and find a bible and find a verse and copy and past that works better. I prefer http://biblestudytools.com/hnv/ it gives the Hebraice perspective of the disciples, Yeshua and the writers of the bible http://biblestudytools.com/CJB/ is another good one, I actually have a physical copy of this bible it gives a good Jewish/Hebrew perspective.
Your assumption that me posting a source from carm say thats the kind of research I do is faulty. Just because I don’t post every quote or source that I have read doesn’t mean I have many sources. I was a JW and studied the literature my mom has a library of Watchtower and Tract Society magazines that go way back even some of the books written by Charles Taze Russel. I spent a good portion of my early life as a JW. I was witnessing after school and having bible studies with kids at school starting in the second grade. I’ve been to the district conventions, etcetera… You may not know what I know and obviously don’t know what I’ve studied and honestly am not a paid researcher so I don’t have the time to research and dig up the information and since I left the organization and am considered an apostate and got disfellowshipped my requests for books and literature I did study that cauase me to question and leave the JW’s like the purple diaglot which in John 1:1 in the direct translations of the greek says “in the beginning was the word and the word was with the g-d (ho-theos) and the word was g-d (theos)” not it doesn’t say “a” g-d that’s added in the side notes later and done without any contextual sources. Just because I don’t present the host of evidence doesn’t mean I haven’t studied and don’t have sources. Also just because I do a short write up that doesn’t go in depth doesn’t mean I can’t be more thorough the point of that was the answers some false claims and provide a few sources to suffice it to say what I said was based in historical truth based on information that can be found. Whether you accept or reject that information thats up to you.
“Having read some of what articles” the ones are carm, or my site here? Because “If it’s worshiping a God that torments non believers forever, pass on religions that teach hellfire, if it bothers you to add beliefs from Babylonian teachings to Christianity, pass on religions that teach the trinity….to each his own.”
You must not have read what I write about here. I expose the pagan influences in Christianity, I’m what you would call a Messianic or Hebrew Christian. We observe the Sabbath on the sabbath we don’t accept the Roman Catholic churches false sun-worshipping day of sun-day, the original disciples where Jewish and meet in synagogues on Shabbat and went to the temple at the hour of prayer AFTER YESHUA died. We observe the biblical festivals not pagan feasts, we don’t do easter or Christmas. We do Passover, Pentecost, Sukkot, etc… So I don’t know what your talking about. The Tanakh and the Gospels calls Yeshua Adon-Kurious which means L-rd and the Father Elohim-Theos which means G-d. There is a distinction between the relationship of the Father and son. If you can understand the G-dhead or the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks and even takes on the physical form of a dove. The holy spirit isn’t what wiccan’s and other neo-pagan’s call and “active force” it is a manifestation of G-d Himself. Elohim is Spirit and no one has seen Him at any time. His sone the Word (D’var-Logo’s) of Adonai, the Angel of the L-rd is Yeshua. Who died for our sins. I do not practice or teach any babylonian mystery religions actually I expose them.
The Remnant are those who keep the commands of Adonai and the testimony of Yeshua. And the 144,000 are Jews from the 12 tribes not an elect group of non-Jews. Its all semantics whether you call the 144,000 chosen little flock as “Elect” or chosen. If the shoe fits wear it, if you don’t like the terminology it doesn’t change the truth in what I said.
I hope that helps clarify the questions you had.
