Weight loss the Bible weigh
Okay, corny phrases aside I’ve actually lost 10-15 lbs since Passover. Getting the leaven out, eating the bread of affliction (matza), walking daily and being more active has helped me lose weight. I have a back injury so heavy workout is painful. In High School and College I took a year of Sports Medicine and two and a half years of Weight Training, couple that with my Martial Arts training which means I know a little about health and fitness. I used to fast fast-food, eat small portions, drink shakes and work out heavy to lose weight fast. Now with physical limitations its difficult due to having physical disabilities such as a back injury among other limitation. However I found that I was able to lose weight this Passover without any major weight lifting or workout routine. I thought I would share what has helped me with you.
Getting the Carb’s out saves you from Carb counting.
I’m thinking about marketing it and call it the “Passover Purge: lose weight the biblical weigh.” Here’s how it works cut the carbs for a week, walk and eat matza, it really works. You would be amazed how much a purge of bread will do for your system and mental clarity. Like any good fast it helps clean out your system. It is good to do a good cleanse because we carry a lot of excess waste that doesn’t full leave your body. Fasting or purging meat’s, and / or bread, abstaining from pork (which is biblical), or living on juice for a week are good way to boost immunology, improve mental focus and clarity. In the context of the “Passover Purge” abstaining from Bread and removing Leaven coupled with taking daily walks and maintaining an active lifestyle leads to weight loss. There is a lot of salt in pork and other foods that are unclean. When one looks at the laws of clean and unclean and applies to science of healthy and unhealthy one finds that there is wisdom and It is healthy to seek to maintain a biblically Kosher lifestyle.
Fasting, abstaining from food and dedicating oneself to prayer is a good way to receive revelation and spiritual breakthrough. As Yeshua stated some things only come through prayer and fasting. In the Beatitude’s Yeshua declared “When you fast,” “When you pray” and “When you give.” It’s a given that we should pray, give and fast. Of course these are spiritual reasons. However fasting has been proven to be good for your health. Passover tends to be a time of miracles and a time that Gods give us vision and direction. The time between Passover and Pentecost is called the “season of our deliverance.” When the Israelites stopped at the well of bitter water the contents where similar to milk of magnesia something used to purge. It’s a time to purge and purify one’s spirit walk and physical body.
How does one participate in the Passover Purge?
Here are the principles of apply the “Passover Purge.” Begin on the 14th of Nisan or the month following Nisan if you miss it for a scripturally excusable reason. Remove all Leven-Chametz from your house. Begin with a Passover Seder which is a Meal-Feast of Unleavened Bread. Abstain from Leaven for 7 Days starting with Nisan 15th lasting through Nisan 22nd. According to the Scriptural calendar. During the Passover Purge do Shabbat with Borae Pri and haMotzi on Friday which is where the Catholic Eucharist and Christian Communion by extension comes from. Nisan 16th is the Festival of the Omer Count or the First Fruits this is a good day to celebrate Yeshua’s resurrection. This is the day Yeshua rose from the dead as the Firstborn of Many Brethren. During this time it is also good to pray according to the pattern of Yeshua’s prayer three times a day (Morning, Noon and Night) as the Early Church did. This is a good practice to seek to maintain, it helps during a time of fasting to pray to focus and curb your appetite.
It us also a good idea to have a get the leaven out party on the 14th and a Unleavened Bread Feast on the 15th to start off the feast. On the 14th gather all the leaven on a wooden spoon, collect it in a pile and burn it in fire. Cut out all leaven and wheat products during Passover. Only eat Matza (preferably Kosher for Passover Matza) in the place of bread. During this time Walk Daily for at least 30 to 45 minutes. When you eat, Eat Smaller Portions. Eat Breakfast Bars or Drink Breakfast Shakes for breakfast. For lunch, eat a salad or soup (both of which you can get at Subway and most fast food places). Do this in place of your regular fast food diet. Try Fasting two lunches during the week if possible. For example do not eat between 10 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday (do not break the fast with a meal only with a light snack and then wait to eat a regular or smaller portion meal at dinner time). Another key element is getting out and taking hikes on the weekend, or going to parks, camping and going to the beach or other outdoor fun and active activities. Being active and living an active lifestyle is a key component to healthy living.
If you like the Daniel Fast the only Juice Fast this another good weigh to lose weight.
During the 7 Days spend time in prayer and devotion in place of the time you would eat, if you fast a meal. Set aside time to pray and seek Adonai. Here are some theme’s to focus on during your time of devotion that may help.
