I have known from the beginning that my husband was spiritual, and deeply attuned to the The Word of G-d and His Ruach. I didn’t always believe he was a prophet, spiritual….yes, prophet well who wants to be a prophet nowadays unless you are making big bucks. Because one prophets aren’t very common and some say that prophecy is not for today and that was done away with the completion of the New Testament. So no people unless a little kooky or within a certain circle even dare to be donned with the title “Prophet.”
How do I know my husband is a prophet and what does it matter we should all strive to prophecy because prophecy it is a gift of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:10). My husband encouraged me to take a prophecy class called something like “Hearing the Voice of God” at a well known church taught by an old former senior pastor. My husband never said a word in the entire class (funny because he always has something to say) but during one of the classes the teacher looked at him and said “I look to him,” speaking to my husband “to make sure my theology is right.” I was like wow my husband never said a word yet the teacher’s Spirit recognized my husbands Spirit. Maybe my husband gave nonverbal clues, possibly, but if you know my husband he’s not very expressive unless he is talking. Anyways I received it as confirmation. I am not writing this to convince anyone that my husband is a prophet because like I said in the beginning prophet has a bad connotation a lot of people don’t even understand it because one what does a prophet prophecy about anyway we have a enough people predicting and wrongly predicting when the Messiah will return. Only what we would probably call nut jobs or people who have somehow found favor among men to be made comfortable being called a prophet, most prophets are silent virtually unknown and probably aren’t looking to be known or found. The life of a Prophet is unpredictable a lot of us like to read about what the prophets have prophesied and often quote the prophets. But like an artist, poet, or writer most of the time a prophet not seen as great until after he has passed away. Why is that because a prophet does not meet our standards of what a prophet should look like they don’t have it all together yet are telling us to get it together. John the Mikvahist (Baptist) was eating locust and honey and being fed by ravens, so was Elijah. Ezekiel had to lie naked 390 days on just one of sides and would turn over to his other side to the same for few days, but come on now who is signing up for that job. Ezekiel had to cut off his hair weigh it and burn different sections all as an example to Israel and their rebellion. What a Looney-toon to say that parents will eat their children you say but what about the circumstances Israel was rebellious but when we rebel we normally don’t have someone eating baked cakes from cow dung cutting their hair and telling us that our parents are going to eat us. This sounds comical or ludicrous however these are the facts and they are real and if you are in rebellion or in the flesh looking at this man then the Spirit of Adonai can be speaking loud and clear and you will laugh like Sarah laughed and tell G-d nope you’re a wrong.
I have seen my husband go into small groups and prophecy or speak life into a group the group will grow, flourish and let him lead but when they find the humanity of my husband or they don’t see his credentials to speak with such authority then I have seen some people gracefully and others not so gracefully try to see an end to his leadership. My husband often tells me that even when he feels lowly and just wants to join a small group church group fellowship to be fed and nourished from the group and not speak but listen but Adonai gives him something to say. Some people may say he’s a know it all or just doesn’t know when to be quiet or is just trying to takeover their group no he has a Word doesn’t want to speak but like Jeremiah 20:9 says,
“But if I say, ‘I won’t think about him, I won’t speak in His name any more,’ then it seems as though a fire is burning in my heart, imprisoned in my bones; I wear myself out trying to hold it in, but I just can’t do it.” (CJB)
It’s not a matter or wanting to say anything it’s a matter of G-d wants him to say it so it must be said now the consequences doesn’t matter if people don’t like what is said its not the case the only thing that matters is that it has be to be said. I wish I could be more delicate but a prophet will speak whether he is liked or not liked G-d is not in the liking game he is in the obey my command game.
The life of a prophet is not an easy life Hosea had to marry a woman known for her unfaithfulness (a prostitute) and had to name his kids “Unpitied” and “Not-my-people” so basically he was a living example of all the things that Israel was to Adonai. Who signs up for these jobs is what I ask myself and the answer is, you don’t sign up for it you are called and no matter how you run, as in Jonah’s case the job still has to be done. The gifts of Adonai are irrevocable.
It’s a lonely calling you make friends just to see them go away unhappy that you weren’t prophesying good tidings and Yeshua told the rich man to sell all his goods and follow him and he went away sad because he could not part with his riches. But even when Yeshua came he made the very people who should have known he was the Messiah uncomfortable and question His authority. What other than the Ruach of G-d did Yeshua have to make himself an equal with G-d? He was a prophet to the naked eye He healed like the prophets, He lived like the prophets going from house to house, shaking off the dust. He even told us that prophets are not welcome in their hometown.
What is the purpose of the article is to say if you’ve put G-d in a box don’t if you think everything G-d says will make sense then your wrong it may only make sense when you can get to heaven. How do you think some of the most tormented of prophets Daniel who had dreams he couldn’t understand or interpret fully felt he seemed frustrated and like he would rather not have the burden of seeing but not understanding. Prophets did not die peoples belief and trust in prophets has not remained intact. They are a select group of people (all can prophecy but the office of a prophet is only for a few) and like I said it’s not a group you sign up for it’s one that only His Spirit can lead you to. A lady met my husband and said she was drawn to him for no apparent reason she said there was something about him and I said well here is how I sum up my husband, “he is a very spiritual person and when you meet him if you like him then your spirit is probably in agreement but then others meet him and dislike him because they hate the spirit of G-d in him it is ever present and never off duty.” My husband has written some of his best articles in a inebriated state called The Potted Plant Revelation (Don’t Be a Potted Plant). He is a man with lots of flaws but the biggest heart on the planet is he liked by many no is he liked by few yes. Will he stop speaking on the behalf of G-d because he is not liked by many no he will let the word out until he has no other instrument in which to pave the streets that Adonai has called him to speak on. I am the Prophets Wife I can declare it but do I do say it boldly no humbly knowing that each day is unpredictable, you reach some you lose some. My hometown his hometown are not acceptable places to dwell so we journey and together our mission is His mission.
All I can say is test the spirit and don’t let your flesh or his flesh get in the way.
