Its good to start building a following on wordpress.com using social media sites as many as possible also look for tools to automatically post your.posts to different social networks. Use stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit, etc… on all new blog post and even old ones you haven’t stumbled yet. Register in search engines use google webmaster tools and analytics.

Make sure you syndicate and distribute it to as many social media sites. Create a facebook fan page and use RSS Gtaphiti on Facebook to autopost new links to the fan page. Add the facebook like button to a text box on your side bar so people can like you fan page and stay connected to your blog through facebook.

Shevat is the eleventh month of the biblical calendar year. (Begins Wednesday – Tuesday Night around Sundown) “Shevat” is the Babylonian name of the month. In the Bible, it is referred to as both “the eleventh month” and “Shevat” (or Shebat), as in Zechariah 1:7, “On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah…”

The month of Shevat contains a minor festival on 15 Shevat known as Tu B’Shevat. This day is one of four days considered to be a Rosh Hashanah (New Year) on the biblical calendar. It is on this day that Israel commemorates the new year for trees and produce, in regards to tithing produce and the counting of the age for trees.

Trees and produce are some of the foremost reasons the land of Israel is praised so highly. In Deuteronomy 8, the land is spoken of as,

A good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills, and land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, and land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing…And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. (8:7-10)

It is customary to eat fruit grown in the land of Israel on this special day. In Israel today, it is a day of celebration for the religious and secular alike. For when the land is renewed from the precipitation, it can once again bring forth its bountiful growth. Thus, its renewal is an occasion for great rejoicing and thanksgiving to God who provides us with good and nourishing sustenance.

Bo | בוא | “Come”
The fifteenth reading from the Torah is named Bo (בוא), which means “Come.” The title comes from the first words of the first verse of the reading, which say, “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘[Come] to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart” (Exodus 10:1). The portion begins by concluding the narrative of the ten plagues, the tenth of which is the slaying of the firstborn. To avoid the plague, the Israelites are given the instructions for the Passover sacrifice and the laws of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Pharaoh finally consents to let Israel go, and they leave Egypt.

Since the “I just wanna go Home” video (which is my favorite video of all time). when I heard Humble Beast was releasing “thr3e”, I was pretty excited! I heard so much talk about this project on all of the social networks weeks before it dropped. I was starting to get worried. See, I hate when a project gets overhyped. It makes me grade it harder, because my expectations are higher. I didn’t want to do that with this project. I just wanted to enjoy it, but I had it back in my mind “Is this going to live up to the hype?”. Well, Let’s get into it and see.

THR3E INTRO-FAVORITE BAR:”MY EYE’S ON GOD, I’M WATCHING THREE’S COMPANY” This is one of the few intros that I heard, where an artist truly utilizes it to give the listeners the concept/theme of the project so clearly. Theory Hazit’s wordplay is crazy, as he takes gives us a lyrical “6 degrees of separation” of the number three. He shows the significance of the number through spirituality, the numerical system, pop culture, anatomy, music and coming back to his personal life. This track literally shows how his life revolves around the number. If this album was a movie, he would be Jim Carey from “The number 23“. This track is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

FIND ME-FAVORITE BAR:”WHEN I WAS YOUNG, ME AND MY MOMMA HAD BEEF/ CAUSE ALL I DID WAS KICK FLOWS AND HANG AROUND YOUNG G’S” Dert catches you with the beat, as soon as it comes in. It’s so melodic and has a dreamy flow. B. Reith does a great job on the hook. This track is what would happen if Theory hazit’s ”I just wanna go home” and 2pac’s “Dear MaMa” got married and had a baby. This has commercial radio appeal and is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

WHAT LIES BENEATH (FEATURING MELANIE RUTHERFORD)-FAVORITE BAR:”DAREDEVILS THAT BECOME BLIND LIKE BEN AFFLICK” This track discusses deception and lies given through Satan. Theory Hazit shows the frustrations of false religions and fake worship of God. This song challenges you to really seek the truth deeper. I also have to give Theory Hazit a head nod on his “Bill Paxon/Trepass” bar. I loved that movie. Melanie Rutherford brings it home on the bridge. She takes the song to a whole new level and helps make this track a REPEAT OFFENDER!

OLD D3RTY HAZIT-FAVORITE BAR:”YA’LL WAS ON THAT BULL FOR A WHILE, I CALL IT RODEO” Before I even got a chance to hear this track, Fans were saying that this was an album favorite. They were right. On this track, Theory Hazit simply spazzes out on the beat. If this is your first time hearing of Theory Hazit, this is a good introduction. This track truly shows that he can hang on to the title of being on of the best emcees in the game. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

ANG3L PART 2-FAVORITE BAR:”WE’LL MAKE GOOD MUSIC, I PRESS REWIND A LOVE SONG EVEN PLAYS ON THE B SIDE” I have to say that this is one of my favorite tracks off of the album! The beat and lyrics are on point! This track is a win/win for you. You can play it for your wife/girlfriend and she will be happy, however, you get to keep it on repeat because you want to hear it for yourself! This is actually my favorite beat off of the album. This would make a great video and single. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

I NEED YOU MORE THAN EVER (FEATURING DONOVAN LUKE HENRY AND PROPAGANDA)-FAVORITE BAR:”I’M A COME OFF THE BENCH DAD” This is a heart touching track for fathers and step fathers. Theory Hazit and Propaganda team up to give one of the best songs on the importance of a father’s presence in their child’s life. This track would be so much more powerful with a video. It could show a visual of the heartache that kids go through in single parent (or “married, but single moms”) homes (also shed light on step fathers that “step” up to the challenge). Donovan Luke Henry does a good job on the hook and gained a fan. It was cool hearing him make a dark song sound so smooth. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

FOR A LACK OF BETTER WORD-FAVORITE BAR”LOOK AT WHAT I’VE DONE WITH THE TIME I BORROWED” Theory Hazit has no problem letting you into his life. He is as transparent as it gets. He explains the order of roles he has failed in and also explains the actions that led him to them. Similar to “Find Me”, this track shows the circle of redemption. The song even provides you with a musical breakdown to reflect and look at the “man in the mirror” within your life. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

AS THE DAY GOES BY3 (FEATURING COLETTE CHANTEL)-FAVORITE BAR:”YOU THREW THE BAIT, I ATE IT UP” This track defines love in all aspects. It explains what love is and what love does. Theory Hazit shows us that love should inspire us. This beat and hook by Colette Chantel is addictive. This is a dope track.

CHANGE GONNA COM3 (FEATURING MELANIE RUTHERFORD)-FAVORITE BAR:”SHE CRIES OUT FOR MY HEART SO LOUD, YOU DON’T READ BETWEEN THE LINES LIKE A BAR CODE” Theory Hazit delivers a graphic story of redemption and finding your “change”. Theory Hazit’s story telling skills are the best. Melanie Rutherford steals the show as she “leads you to the cross” at the end of the song. Her voice is so angelic and is so powerful. The way that Theory Hazit describes these verses, they have to be real. This song is a movie within a song. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

DISTORT3D JOY-FAVORITE BAR:”GIVEN A HABIT BEFORE I’M GIVEN A NAME” By far, this is the best song on the album! This track has the flow of Eminem (the “Slim Shady LP” Eminem) and the voice and feel of a Quasimoto/Lord speaking on the behalf of a baby within the womb. There is not one line/bar from this song that will not have you dropping your jaw. The hook is so deep and shows how hip hop can really be a voice for the streets. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

DOOMSDAY INSURANC3-FAVORITE BAR:” SUICIDE, HOMICIDE AND GENOCIDE, THEY JUST WON’T DIE” I love how Theory Hazit keeps the thr3e” concept on this track. He allows the concept to come full circle. I haven’t heard the gospel brought in such a unique way. when it comes to breaking down Revelations, you have to know what you’re talking about. Theory Hazit paints a vivid picture and breaks down the scritputres well. The reality is worse. This is a REPEAT OFFENDER!

JOJO DANC3R-FAVORITE BAR:”DEPART FROM ME, DUCES” I love when Theory hazit gets ”dirty grimey” on the track. This was a great track to end the album with. It was bitter-sweet, because I wanted to hear more tracks after it was over. Once again, Theory Hazit proves that he can deliver a dope track and scores one with his pop culture references.

Yeshua practiced religion he went to Synagogue-Ekklesia every Shabbat-Sabbath, He observed the Jewish festivals and traditions, He was circumcised on the eighth day of Sukkot, He went through His Bar Mitzvah at 12 years old, He didn’t go into ministry until He was 30, He read the Torah Portion regularly as was His tradition, He was called Rabbi (Teacher) as an accepted Jewish teacher, He used the festivals to teach on issues relating to His Messiahship, for example on Chanukah in Jerusalem to declare that He is the light of the world, He used Passover to establish a way for us to remember His life, death and resurrection, He spoke positively with other Rabbi’s who had questions, His disciples continued to pray at the hour of prayer at the temple after the veil in the temple was rent, the Gift of the Ruach HaKoddesh fell on the Festival of Shavuot (Pentecost), Passover, Pentecost and Sukkot are the three festivals that we are commanded to go up to the temple in Jerusalem if there is one, there is none now, however those are the three holiest days and Yeshua had an impact on those and even the other smaller Biblical festivals. He prayed often, ministered and taught often, Yeshua rebuked the Leaven of the Pharisee‘s and said “Do as they say not as they do.” Many people have a false view of Yeshua. He is the founder of Judaism and Messianic (Christian) Judaism. Right religion and right fasting takes cares of those who are hurt and in need. He came for the sick not the healthy. That’s religion, that’s ministry.

Shemot (שמות) is both the title for the second book from the scroll of the Torah and the title of the first Torah portion therein. Shemot means “names.” The English-speaking world calls this book Exodus. The Hebrew title for the book comes from the opening phrase of the book: “Now these are the names (shemot) of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob” (Exodus 1:1).

The English name Exodus comes from the Septuagint (LXX), the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible. The Greek title for the book is Exodus Aigyptou, which translates as “Departure from Egypt.” The name Exodus is an abbreviated form of that title. Exodus means “departure.” The book of Exodus tells the story of the children of Israel enslaved in Egypt and their miraculous redemption through the hand of Moses, the story of the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, the construction of the golden calf and the construction of the Tabernacle.

As we study the first week’s reading from the book of Exodus, we find the children of Israel in slavery. It seems at first that the God of their ancestors has forgotten them. But God has not forgotten His promises. He remembers His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and brings a Redeemer to their children’s children, for the sake of His name, with love.

After a nail-biting late night final vote tally at 2:30 am in my home state of Iowa. The caucuses show us a lot about the republican field. As an independent voter I find partisan politics amusing at times, engaging at others. I have to say I woke up too two specific candidates I’m interested in who based on their stances and experience that I believe are the right solution for The American Economy, Balancing The Budget, Creating American Jobs and for America’s defense, right now! Those two where not the top two but in the top four. The two I see as what America needs are Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich who got third and fourth place. The toll negative ads on Gingrich and Ron Paul strong grassroots support played major factors. Ron Paul did better than I expected and Newt Gingrich did worse than I expected. Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are locked in a virtual tie with Romney as the winner by eight votes wow that is a close call. Recount anyone? As the crowd screams “no, Please!” Despite them coming in first and second, it is the third and fourth place that has struck me as choices America need but may not want. I will explain why I say that.

Lets take a look at the Republican field of Elephants running for president and why I See either Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich the true solution for our economy, debt rating, homeland security and national interest. Whereas people may feel Romneys a shoe in and has non government business experience which I’m not sure qualifies him to be a good bureaucrat. I don’t see Romney as electable maybe he’s got the looks for our media savvy society however he seems incapable of breaking the 25 percent barrier which will be a major issue in the run for president. Santorum definitely has the Evangelical conservative right on his side which was a bit off an upset and an offset to Romney. Ron Paul has the attention of Libertarians, some of Occupy Wall Street and most of the Tea Party activist. What will be the deciding factor in this vote so-called “electability” against Barak Obama or true solutions for the ongoing economic crisis that has been unstable since near the end of Bill Clintons’ last term. Bush’s wars depended the debt. Bush and Obama bailing out the banks and car companies has deepened the debt. so we need some new solutions. In my opinion the economy and “sovereign” debt as their now calling it are the solutions and type of president we need to stabilize and repair our economy and falling debt rating. I don’t see Romney as that solution period. He has put forth no solution that fits and his experience doesn’t show he can. I don’t know much about Rick Santorum other than surprise he’s in second place. Like the election of 1992 I feel like “it’s the economy stupid” all over again and we do not need more of the same.

Lets take a look at what the Political Pact of Elephants has to offer from my estimation.

First in my opinion is Newt Gingrich who actually balanced the budget with Democratic President Bill Clinton and is strong of Defence. Regardless of talk this is the only guy in the running who presided over a balanced budget if anyone can do it he should be the man.

Second in my opinion is Ron Paul whose a toss-up with Newt for first due to his fiscal policies. I see Ron Paul fiscal policies as the solution we need but may never get. He wants to abolish the fed, restore the Republic and reinstitute the Treasury note back by the gold standard not just faith and credit. Now as much as I am for that policy lets remember that both Lincoln and JFK were trying to reinstitute treasury notes and close down a private banking system. Given other factors may have also played into Lincolns death namely the civil war. JFK spoke out against Secret Societies a year before his death and had started the process to reinstitute the treasury note when he was assassinated. Whether I’m grasping at straws these issues where in play and why the money monopoly people in power have a vested interest in keeping Ron Paul out of the white house he has a plan to restore the Republic with sound fiscal policy, restoring the gold standard for treasury notes while abolishing the private Federal Reserve bank, he wants to bring troops home from all 130 countries they are in which will save money, he will stop sending billions in aid to other countries, he plans to secure border, stop the I-35 super highway and create Americans Jobs. He is definitely a candidate that the Tea Party and Occupy Movement should look at. He is fundamentally a Libertarian with strong grass-roots and independent support as well as having a strong pro-life record.

Third in my book is Rick Santorum whose Foreign Policy is clearly anti-Iran and pro-Israel. He is a true conservative and solidly gets evangelical vote on faith and family values something Ron Paul seems to struggle with. Santorums campaign solid has done grassroots work throughout Iowa and hopefully will continue to do so in New Hampshire. He seems to be the faith and family votes best bet and with Bachman dropping out we should see his numbers rise in the poles.

Fourth for those who care comes Romney a former business man who can’t seem to break the 25 percent mark even when out spending other candidates on negative attack ads. He is supposedly the only Republican with the kryptonite to  beat Barak Obama. Does he has enough Lex Luther in him to truly beat Obama when he only won by eight votes and got fewer votes than he got in 2008 against John McCain in Iowa. Romney appears to be more an Al Gore type of politician who doesn’t seem connect with people and has a hard time getting the numbers to rise over 25 percent of the caucuses for him. Republicans are looking for someone other than Romney and I submit that Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich are better suited to run our country right now, not based on TV personality or persona but on policies that will balance our budget and fix our economy. Mitt Romney is more of a centrist, too centrist for Tea Partyers and Conservatives and he has the lowest percentage of any republican ever known for right to life and his Al Gore-esque flip-flopping is a liability in a general election with no solid fiscal credentials other than working in the private sector which rich corporations that mismanage money is apart of the problem so I’m not sure trying to get the Donald Trump vote is a good idea. Lets shoot for sound fiscal policy an ability to balance the budget and to fix our failed fiat monetary system.

The top 4 in a recent CNN New Hampshire poll where:

1. Romney
2. Paul
3. Huntsman
4. Santorum

Gingrich didn’t make the top four however after what happened in Iowa we may see a more aggressive Gingrich and upset between Huntsman and Santorum. Will Santorum do better than expected in New Hampshire. In 2008 Romney came in second to McCain in New Hampshire so does this leave the door open for Santorum, Huntsman, Paul or Gingrich to pull an upset. I’m looking for Gingrich to take real swipes at Romney and to see Ron Paul and Rick Santorums grass roots support to make an impact

In my opinion if I would to give the Republicans candidates some advice I would state that I believe they should focus on right Fiscal Policy, Balanced Budget, Pro Life, National Security and Defense-Protection of Israel as top issues they should focus on. I feel it’s a fallacy and may lose them the election if they vote for who they think can bet Obama. In the end that plays towards Obama’s favor as policies and record should be on the line not whose the cutest in the pageant.

Can Ron Paul unseat Mitt Romney or is Newt Gingrich up to the task or is Santorum the sleeper who will rise to the challenge. Will Huntsman a former American Ambassador under Barak Obama be in play in New Hampshire after skipping Iowa. And will John McCain’s endorsement of Romney make an impact on the bloody feud between McCain and Romney in New Hampshire which is shaping up to happen between Newt and Romney. Will that the winner may get the most wind in their sails? Will the past play out here with Newt or Santorum getting the win leaving Ron Paul and Romney in the top four again. Even though some are now saying the race is between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. John McCain doesn’t like Rick Santorum they disagreed on enhanced terrorism so its obvious he wants to take some wind out of Santorums sails. I am glad Texas governor Rick Perry bowed out I personally couldn’t handle another conservative Texan in the White House, it would ruin my lunch for another four years. Bachman taking a break may give Santorum some wind in His sails with the Evangelical vote and may neutralize McCain’s endorsement of Romney. Poles show Newt beating Romney in North Carolina poles so it looks to be an interesting bid for the Republican nomination. Who will be the winner only the last caucus tally will show us.

Wow! is all I can say. 2011 has been a beautiful year for Christian Hip Hop Music. It has been difficult narrowing down my list of top artist for 2011. I have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the artists content and talent that was shown this year. I’ve enjoyed a wide variety of the music presented and I hope my top 11 for 2011 will be as interesting to you as the music has been inspirational to me.

1. Jekob-Minor Setbacks for Major Comebacks-This was my first time hearing Jekob. This project made me fall back in love with hip hop. I don’t normally hear a lot of  HHH artists that make me want to listen to their project more than one time. The name of the album caught me off guard. Artist don’t take time to have original tiles for their projects anymore. This project was inspiring. I can honestly see Jekob making a commercial crossover.

2. Jekob-Pocketless Souls-I know this may not seem fair, but Jekob just makes great music! If the tags weren’t on the tracks, it would have been a perfect album.

3. Alert- Red Opus 45-I love the feel on the album. It was fresh and I love the instrumental style that Alert has. Boogalu is such a great emcee. He speaks on many social issues and also has the ability to make the tracks sound like singles/radio ready.

4. Mr. J Mediros-Saudade-This was such a unique album. This was the deepest listen for 2011. The production was great. You can’t just pop this album on-you have to be in the mood for it. However, it’s one of the most artistic projects that came out this year.

5. Alabaster Kin-End of the Road-I love the sound on this project. You really don’t hear too many rap duos that bring it like this. “Road to Nowhere” is one of the best songs that I’ve heard this year. If it wasn’t so serious, it might have a little higher.

6. 7vnSeal-Keep my boots Madd Muddy (Platton Vol.1)-If your a Wu-Tang fan, you know that this project has to be on your list. This was a nice project and the production was great. If it had a little more depth on it, it would have been higher.

7. Triune-Celebration- I love this concept project. Triune had some “real man issues” on this project. He had tracks that you could listen to everyday. Similar to the Jin project, he had more tracks on it, it would be higher on the list.

8. Propaganda & Odd Thomas-Art Ambidextrous-This was the first spoken word project that I listened all the way through. I really enjoyed it. It was different and I really love “I hate it”.

9. Von Won-All American Felon-This was a good solid project. Von Won took me back with many of the beats and samples that he used. This project had a good commerical feel to it.

10. Wize Camp-In the 90s Da Mixtape-I really like this group. I think that they did better than some of the original artists that used some of these beats. If I didn’t review this so late in the year, it possibly could have been higher on the list.

Honorable Mentions:

1. Jin- Sincerely Yours- This was a good project. I really enjoyed seeing what Jin had to offer to Holy Hip Hop. Being an EP, I just wanted to hear more from him.

2.7vnSeal-Trench War EP-This was a nice three track EP, but I really enjoyed his other project that I reviewed more.

My Wife, My Inspiration

This year I decided to do a thank you along with my top 10, top 11 lists. I want to thank those who have inspired and encouraged me to write and have taken me to the next level in one way or another.

1. I want to thank my wife, Sondra aka Shanelle’s Frolicious, who has been supportive and encouraging of my writing, she’s my number one support, follower, fan and avid reader. Its also been good to see her grow as a writer as well. Along with my son, they have been inspiration and support for my writing, podcasting and blogging. They have been the two best things for me that have caused growth spiritually and emotionally. I am a better man, husband and father because of them. Thank you.
2. I want to thank Zion Eye Media for putting in the hard work to create a new website and design for para-DOX parABLEs, Just para-DOX, Triple H Mixtapes, JAG’D Edge Media, The Three p (3p) podCAST, and the KE Vlog series. If you like what he has done with my little ole site, check out some of his other work that he has done for Playdough and others. If you are looking for someone to build your site hit him up.    Chican George for handling most of my album reviews for this year. I’ve had more of a passion for writing about Messianic Judaism and doing product reviews and expanding my writing. So this has been a major blessing allowing the Christian Hip Hop heads who are friends and fans to get a little sampling of music I want to put people up on while I get a chance to grow my own writing outside only that realm. I like the reviews he’s done and its been fun putting him unto music he didn’t know about. Its been a fun process.

   Then there is Word Millah, our resident Messianic Jew, who has been faithful to write to do a write up on the weekly torah portion and keep us updated on the Hebrew lifecycle and festivals. He has been a blessing like our own little Rabbi. He’s been consistent, faithful and helpful. Again fulfilling a resource I want to provide to my Messianic followers while freeing me up to write more in-depth on biblical festivals and other topics.

   And for the other contributor Big Sto, even though he’s only dropped one article on Underground Hip Hop on us, I do appreciate his contribution when he isn’t swamped with school and I do want to provide and avenue for him to write and get exposure.

   The door is open to guest bloggers on topics related to this blog whether Christian Hip Hop or Messianic Judaism primarily that’s the content and two audiences that are a part of my life and I seek to reach, speak to and minister to. So if you are reading this and have a CHH or Messianic Jewish topic you want to cover. You can contact me and submit content for consideration for posting here through the contact form on the contact page. I do not support divisiveness in speech and do not support specific camps, so please do not submit content that is group centrism avoid divisive topics like Ephraimites, Two House Theory, One Law Debates or Calvnism or Armenian Hip Hop.

4. I also want to thank BlogCritics and TechnoRati for allowing me to write for them. One to challenge me to write for larger audiences, to challenge my literary standards and knowledge and help me grow as a writer. I am thankful to them for bringing me on to write for them. Its been a fun growing and learning process. In the past I’ve written for DaSouth, Rapzilla, His Image Magazine, The Message Magazine and Marital Bliss, however BC and TR are my first non-Christian avenues to write and get exposure for my writtings so its been fun and challenging. In 2012 I am starting to write for West Coast Fiya as well. Adonai keeps opening doors for my writings.
5. I am thankful for the experiences, networking, connections and learning that I have received from covering the Blog World And New Media Expo as a reporter for Technorati and Rapzilla for two years in a row. Its been a very rewarding opportunity to interview people who have encouraged me in my own writing, to be able to sit through sessions that have challenge and educated me, as well as picking up some promotional T-shirts, taking pictures and having fun, getting away and connecting with other writers and bloggers. Its really an experience that makes my top ten list of the past two years. Its taught me to better write-curate content, syndicate-distribute and monetize. I am thankful for that focus. Its been a blessings to see money start coming in for something I do as a hobby for fun and as a spiritual gift to others. I am also thankful to Scribd for hosting my free eBooks that have received near 10,000 reads.
6. Thats brings me to my next group of thank you and that’s for Sponsors/sources of income that have been consistent and encourage me to continue the good fight Audible, Adsense and Amazon, have been the three that provide residual and consistent income, to subsidize this venture of turning blogging from a hobby into a professional writing career or viable second income. I’m only in the early stages so its interesting to watch it grow and rewarding to receive income for something I’ve done for free and as a hobby since 1997. I’ve been blogging since before it was called that.
7. I am thankful for the Right-Just Rap Foundation For Social Justice Project and The SaveDarfurNow Compilation even though it got a rough reception, the ability to stay passionate and challenge others to seek social justice for those who are suffering and to provide for those in need. I pray the time and investment into it turns out in lives impacted and changed.
8. I am also thankful to Stitcher, iTunes, Zune and PodOmatic for hosting my podcast and for the over 500 listeners to my first episode which reminds me I need to get to working on my second episode, and get on a regular rotation of churning out episodes. I’m also thankful for Word Millah and the DJ’s at HeadzUp FM for offering to carry the podcast as well. Its good to know that people want to hear the music and stories I feel passionate about.
9. I am thankful for the impact that Triple H Mixtapes has had within Christian Hip Hop over the last 5 years plus years. We have blazed a trail to keep Free Promotional Albums and Mixtapes available to evangelize those who have not had the opportunity to heard Gospel Rap or Christ-Centered Hip Hop. Over the last year alone we have impacted 100,000 people with the good news presented through CHH Mixtapes and Promotional Albums that are free and legal. We do not support illegal music downloads and I’m proud of that stance and stick by it. Its been good knowing we point back to the artist and labels and let fans know if they like the mixtape or promotional album support the artist. Along with blazing a trial in ministry mixtapes we’ve expanded avenues for artist to expose their mixtapes to secular audience’s blazing trails by submiting mixtapes to DatPiff.com and other secular mixtape times. As trendsetters and trailblazers its been awesome to watch the growth and impact that has been made outside just the mixtape site itself.
10. I am thankful for good old friends like my homies Carlos who have remained good friends and new friends like rapper Evan-Word, Bavu Blakes, Tha Voice and ChicanGeorge who have been inspirational and encouraging to me, as well as those who have come and gone. Its been good to connect with real people who help me keep it real and continue to grow in who I am as a human who relates a spiritual message in a natural way, much like our Messiah did, through parables and proverbs.
11. I am also thankful to others who have encouraged, supported and inspired me along the way from Vickie Kniepp and Judy to Henry Wrights Teachings on “A More Excellent Way.” As I’ve learned to deal with life’s issues and share my victories with other hopefully to inspire others to change and growth. I like to share things I like from technology to music to books to information about pop culture and relevant issues. Influential mentors along the way have been Rabbi Marty Waldmen Baruch HaShem Synagogue, Dan Allegro Family Karate, TKD Insturctor, Pastor Mike Robertson Oceanside Family Fellowship Church, and Pastor-Evangelist Iann Schonken Oceanside Family Fellowship Church. They’ve added things to my life that are invaluable to that I hope to share with you.  I am thankful for the people who have added and continue to add to my life.

Additional thanks for the coming year: I am also thankful for an anticipating the growth, challenges and changes to come in 2012. It feels like its going to be a good year of growth and new experiences. I am thankful to West Coast Fiya Mag for the opportunity to be involved in writing for their magazine and be involved in its reboot. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities of the new year.

Do you have an ear for what the ear for what the D’var Adonai (The Word of The L-rd) is saying to you? I’m trying to be a voice that echo’s his voice like the moon reflects the son. I pray this year like every year I can become a better reflection of Him, Adonai, L-rd Yeshua, the One (Echad) who formed the world with His Words along with Elohim, G-d the Father and the Ruach HaKodesh. I pray that this year I can give you more of what you need and not feed the flesh but feed your spirits to hunger and thirst for more, to seek to Know Him, to seek to be Known by Him and to Seek to help others to Know Him. To be a priest, a father, a wife, a husband, a son, a daughter, a mother, and a member of the family of Avraham who provide’s the love and nourishment to their family and ministry network with love and wisdom.

It interesting to me that when I was studying Judaism, Christianity and Early Church History I was never drawn to Messianic Judaism. I was told about it and invited to attend but didn’t feel a desire at that time to take part. I studied the Hebraic Roots of the Early Church but then sought out Jewish not Messianic books and sources. Before I became apart of Messianic I was a bit vexed by it. Now I’m a part of it but as we seek to define ourselves as a young movement we must look to the past. This phrase popped in my mind when meditating on the topic “Messianic: What Is It? A Solid Or Liquid?” Sounds funny but are we solid or liquid-fluid. What defines us. As a new and young movement what ancient and ancestral sources do we look to? Are we as pliable as Christian’s or as solid as Judaism? Let’s look into some things. First I want to share my testimony and how I’ve felt enigmatic towards the Messianic movement in the past, then let’s look at some historical movements and in the end let’s begin the discussion of how we define ourselves’. Here goes something.

I got saved and healed of a Torn Rotator Cuff at a Wyman Mitchel Healing Crusade at the Pier Amphitheater in Oceanside on August 17, 1996 at about 8:30 pm. I got connected, discipled and baptized at Family Fellowship Assemblies of God, that was experiencing and outpouring of the Holy Spirit after its leadership had went to the Brownsville Revival in Pensacola, Florida and came back and repented before the congregation. I hadn’t heard of it before, however the presence of the Spirit was strong, I received healing and was Baptized in the Spirit. I spent many days in service and stayed late for revival services. I began to work on staff at the Church and be involved in the youth. The pastor required that all the staff read Larry Lee’s book on “Could You Not Tarry An Hour” that teaches you how to pray and hour using the L-rd prayer as a pattern and required that we all pray for an hour before work. I started going to bible school at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1997 to study pastoral Ministries with a minor in Church Planting and Revitalization. In late “97 I read Ed Chumney’s Festival of Messiah. I wrote an article on the paganism of Halloween and another article advocating that Christians Observe the Biblical Festivals. I even started seeking out to take part in them and experience them for myself. I attended a Purim celebration held by some Jewish students at SAGU. I also attended a Yom Kippur service at a Jewish Synagogue that year in 1998. At this point it was mere Hebraic Roots study with a little exploration I hadn’t become a Messianic though I advocate their positions.

The summer of ’99 I found some interesting things about the revival at Brownsville Assemblies of G-d that have changed my life and perspective. I went to visit the Pensacola Outpouring myself in 1999. Upon going and reading the book “When The Heavens Where Brass” I found out that Pastor Kilpatrick credits Messianic Rabbi Dick Reuben for laying the foundation for the revival that happened there. While I was down there I picked up the Messianic Jewish Teacher Dick Rueben’s teaching on the Pattern For Revival, The Tabernacle, Our Priesthood, Our High Priest and Intercession. I also noted that their School of Ministry led by Messianic Jew Michael Brown taught courses on Messianic Judaism and the Hebraic Roots of Christianity. 

At that time I had also been listening to a teaching series from Tommy Tenney on the Tabernacle and the revival that he was experiencing. This was right before the God-Chaser phenomenon when he was preaching revival and the power of God split a pulpit in two in Texas. This really started to wet my appetite for studying the Jewish and Hebraic heritage of the bible. I started doing a lot of studying of the Temple, the Tabernacle and the Feasts of the bible. At this time I started to add the stations of the Tabernacle, as a process to praying through the L-rds prayer to go from the outer courts, to the inner courts, into the holy place and into the most holy place. This was a really good time in prayer.

On the way to Pensacola a friend and I attended the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. This stirred in me a desire to understand their concept of Restoring David’s Tabernacle. I kept meditating on this statement that Dick Reuben was saying “when the pattern is right the glory will fall,” I couldn’t get it out of my spirit. The “pattern” he was talking about was that of the “tabernacle of Moses.” Since then I’ve done a lot of study on the Tabernacle of Israel, the Hebraic Foundation of Christianity and Middle Judaism. In 2002 while I was in Europe on a missions trip I visited a Moravian Charismatic Monastery in Holland that had prayer services 24 hours a day for over 100 years that IHOP-KC was patterned after. Over time I grew tired of observing non-biblical feasts like Christmas and Easter and desired to Observe Passover, Shavuot (Pentecost), Sukkot and the other biblical festivals, more and more.

In 2005 I started to visit Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue. 2006 I started observing the festival’s regularly and attending BHS Messianic Synagogue. Between 1997 and 2006 I was a Hebrew Christian. Now I’m a Messianic believer in Messiah. I have done extensive studies in Church History, into the early pre-Catholic church, the early Orthodox Church Fathers, the long history of Charismatic-Pentecostal believers and very heavily in the Reformation, all the way to American Protestant Revivals of Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley and George Whitefield between 1996 and 2003. At one point I had amassed a large collection of books that I had studied. I went through a period of transformation leading up to our marriage in 2007 in which we had a Jewish wedding complete with Ketubah and stomping on a wine glass. In the past I had taught myself to read Koine Greek and Hebrew along with some Greek and Hebrew in bible school. In 2008 my wife and I started learning the Hebrew Aleph-Bet and the Hebrew Prayers and Blessings. My academic knowledge has now become experiential knowledge I went from Hebrew Roots Teacher to Messianic Believer. Many people said I should be Messianic or Jewish before but now I am. For at least five years now my family and I have observed what I believed and studied for years before that. For the past 15 years I have been on a quest to know. Now I’m on an experiential journey of discovery and doing. I’ve attended small Hebrew Roots bible studies and Hebrew Pentecostal Messianic Congregations. Right now we are having Torah Services after the Sidur from Baruch HaShem with a couple of additions one being Yeshua’s Teffilah (Yeshua’s Prayer) and the other being Ashrei Ha’Yeshua (The Beatitudes). 

I find names and titles to be useless to me as one time I’m under one and later under another. I do agree with the summation of congregations found here. I started out in a Messianic Synagogue who desired to seem more Conservative Jewish than Messianic Jewish, by fact that was their position. It’s a good strong Messianic Congregation but their goal was Jewishness for Jews. Then we moved and got involved in a Small Group that was in fact a blend between a Judaic Church Philo-Semitic Christian congregation and Hebrew Baptist yet some claimed they were “Orthodox” while not keeping all the Halacha, not keeping kashrut and allowing women to speak and teach. Which is not “orthodox’ some of the well-intentioned bible studies are not Messianic Congregations as they title themselves as more Hebrew Roots study groups. At times we have fellowshipped with a Pentecostal Messianic Congregation that came out of the Foursquare movement. I come from an Assemblies of G-d background personally I enjoy freedom of worship and praying in the spirit but in the context of Judaism it doesn’t have much of a place and Paul advocated moderation and control over free reign. So I am one Pentecostal, two Christian, but most Messianic and more Jewish day by day. I prefer Halacha and a Sidur to disorder and chaos.

Personally we follow a Sidur and I lead my family in Torah Service. We do prayers in Hebrew like the Messianic Jewish-Conservative Jewish congregation we attended and learned Hebrew and some of the Prayers from. I’ve also spent some time visiting a Hasidic Chabad fellowship, one for a connection to Judaism and to be more Jewish in practice by immersion-mikveh-baptism in the culture. You only learn by immersion in a culture. I spent two months in Western Europe on Missions and 6 weeks of that in Spain I learned more spanish in that time than during my year of Spanish in High School or even dealing with Spanish workers at fast food joints. You can’t take your culture and re-write a culture, it’s not right and Biblical-Jewish culture is the culture of both Old and New Covenants. Immersion or Baptism is the best way to learn any culture.

In the bible we have salvation through repentance, confession and faith that causes a circumcision of the goyim (the sinful worldly nature) of the heart, then when one is converted they are expected to follow that with a declaration of their conversion by immersion or mikvah in water. Mikvah in the new covenant community seemed to take the place of circumcision upon conversion for gentiles who it wasn’t compulsory that they take on the life of a convert or proselyte, it must be by choice not force. Following the baptism in water one should seek to be baptized in the spirit and seek to be sanctified by the baptism in fire. Then one must enter into the covenant of salt or the baptism into the Body of Messiah which at the time of Yeshua and Paul’s writings was culturally Jewish and religiously a form of Judaism. Therefore the baptism into the body is the immersion into the biblical Jewish culture of Yeshua’s time which at times is Pharisaic and other times Sadducees and at other times Essenes.

I’ve said I’m a Judeo-Christian before of a Pentecostal background but at this point. I’ve shed that and Judaism defines me, I am dedicated to the state and people of Israel. I am raising my son Jewish, he was circumcised, will be bar mitzvah’d, we do a child Seder because my son is under me until his bar mitzvah when its obligatory for him to take on Torah for himself. I find that the foundation of Judaism that Yeshua or Jesus lived is what I want to understand culturally as Jewish as possible on a natural level and spiritually as Judaism on a religious level. Yeshua was dedicated at the temple, circumcised and went through His bar mitzvah so shall my family and children. He is our Messiah and example.

Does my accepting Yeshua prevent me from being a Jew? If I fulfill what a Gentile must do according to Torah to become a Jew does that make me a non-Jew because Orthodox Jews won’t accept me due to my acceptance of Yeshua? If the Labavitcher movement can reverance Labavitch as a Messiah figure or other groups uphold others as Messiah figures, or almost as high as we honor Yeshua then we should be accepted. However since many in the MessyAntic movement aren’t Jewish and don’t seek to live a Jewish lifestyle or practice Judaism they make us seem not authentically Jewish. If we all embraced a solid form of Judaism, Halachah, Keshurut, Oneg, Chaveruh and Jewish life cycles then w would see more Jews feel comfortable in our midst. 

I’ve chosen the life of a proselyte or convert or G-dfearer. I don’t understand it all, I was born a wild branch and I must immerse myself in a culture that is not my own, the baptism into the body of Messiah which is Jewish, Christianity is a Judaism, Catholicism is not a Christianity, though it calls itself one and yet its purposely changes and did the opposite of Judaism intentionally makes it Anti-Messiah. Protestant follow Catholicism are the child of the Harlot in my opinion as the Catholic Church is the Harlot of Revelation. Not all protestants are bad, many are good-hearted and want truth but have been taught wrong. That doesn’t make it right or okay.

I’m probably Blended Messianic and Hebrew Pentecostal more than I want to be because those are my roots but my heart is Jewish in culture and Judaism in practice and that is what I am learning to do with respect for the Talmud, Mishna and G’morrah understanding they came as a response to the Gospels and Epistles. The Gospels and Epistles came first followed with the Jewish writings to preserve Judaism in the face of the feeling of loosing their Jewish identity during the early synthesis between Messianic and Jewish movements. After the failed Bar Kokhba revolt the Pharisee Rabbi’s decided to take back Judaism for Jews and kick out all non-Jews including the Messianic Jews and Messianic Gentiles who then no longer had a home.

Groups like the Montanist retained observance of Passover, and yet where decidedly Pentecostal, they retained more Judaism than other groups that embrace Roman Platonist ideals. When I read Church “fathers” say they believe Plato wrote his narratives under the gift of the Holy Ghost and yet Plato wasn’t Jewish or recognized by Yeshua I have a problem with those “Church fathers” and those who follow them.

Catholicism is complete tainted. Protestants that havent went the route of the Puritans, Quackers and Holiness movement that lead into the Pentecostal movement of the 1900′s who rejected all Catholicism sought in the own way to affirm scripture and return to biblical observance of course falling short but getting closer. Puritans tried to honor Sukkot as the foundations for what became Thanksgiving when the government changed the month. I’ve found the “Emerging Church” and its embrace of eastern mysticism, catholic prayer wheels and universal-ism as scary.

I did a blog on the Assemblies of G-d involvement in IAMCS and MJAA. The AOG is the only Gentile organization that actually has official ordained Messianic congregations that are apart of its fellowship and that is something that’s awesome to see AOG Messianic Congregation which are of course more Hebrew Pentecostal, however some are more Torah Observant, some reject Kippas but wear Tallits, others are just Hebrew Christians or Sabbatarian however its progress for a mainstream denomination. That is what I came out of was a group of Messianic-Hebrew Roots leaning AOG Revivalist.

Now I want to become culturally Jewish in practice of Festivals and Holidays and Halacha. I mean we don’t eat marshmallows or frosted flakes because pig bone marrow is used to make them unless we get Kosher marshmallows. We seek to eat Kosher, maintain Jewish Halacha and Festivals. We have a sidur for Shabbat and Torah service we follow that is more “Conservative Jewish” with sprinklings of NT readings and prayers Yeshuas’ Tefillah, Ashrei Ha’Yeshua (The Beatitudes) and Baruch ha’Mishpacha (The Prayer of Jabez-Joshuas Pronouncement 14:15b). On Shabbat we sing Ma Tovu, V’shamru and other Jewish songs like Shalom Alechiem, we also do a whole host of Jewish Prayers from the Shabbat Amidah, To Adonai Malkeinu, to Vai-Hi, to Sh’ma, to V’ahvta, to Bar’chu, to Baruch Cha’neem, to Ayshet Cha-Yil, to the Mourners Kaddish, to V’zot Ha’Torah, to Etz Chayim, to Bayom Hahu, followed by a Torah Service based in the current Torah-Parasha Cycle and finished with Kiddush, Ha’Motzi, and Birkat Kohanim.

My wish is to become culture assimilated baptized-immersed into Jewishness as a natural lifestyle. I’ve learned the spiritual implications, the messianic implications and the prophetic implications. I’m at the place I want to live as a Jew and do it whether we have a congregation to go to or not. I don’t mind attending a Chassidic Shul or a Conservative Shul.

Chassids and Lubavitchers are interesting they are evangelistic and because of the Kabbalistic leaning believe the more who practice Judaism release more righteousness in the earth which is magical so they don’t mind Gentiles observing amongst them. Even Reformed are okay with Gentiles I’m just not okay with their openness to anti-Torah lifestyles such as gay and eating non-biblical kosher foods.

The Karaite like rejection of Talmud (the wisdom of the Elders) is like putting your head in the sand. This is ancient wisdom written before the Catholic Church was institutionalized. I would rather read the Talmud over the Catechism. I like some of the Talmud’s answers for one that Jacob wrestled with Esau’s Angel is their explanation many Xian’s say it was Yeshua, the Angel of the L-rd or some Archangel. I find their explanation intriguing. I know that I have been saved, baptized in water, circumcised as a baby, baptized in the spirit and I seek to be sanctified, and baptized by fire into the body of Messiah that is Jewish in practice, origin and Halacha. If it’s not Jewish it’s not Jesus. He’s Jewish. He and His disciples were Jewish the entire bible is written by Jews in a Jewish context. That is the only culture I want to immerse myself in and understand more and more every day.

Forgiveness and Grace isn’t moral liberty from responsibility its freedom from condemnation and guilt with a responsibility to Adonai, Torah and the people of Adonai. Adonai is slow to anger, rich in grace, forgiving offenses not exonerating the iniquity, (Numbers 14:18-19). Your sins affect your children, don’t say do as I say not as I do. We are to remember to keep his commands, (Numbers 15:38-41). We are all under one law, the same law for the natural-born and the foreigner, (Numbers 15:15-16, 29). There are no two laws, no two houses, no Ephraimite error. There is no metaphoric psuedo-Jewish connection to those drawn to the Hebrew Roots of Christianity. It’s a spiritual yearning for trust in Adonai who reasons with us. It’s okay to make mistakes as you grow, (Numbers 15:22-26). However Intentional or Willful sin is not okay, (Numbers 15:30-31). You are to have the same law for the foreigners and natural-born. I’m tired of wild branches being left to build their own house without being grounded and rooted in Avraham’s household. For example Tzitzit are a reminder to keep the commands and not willfully sin, (Numbers 15:38-41). We are to be one in Messiah Jew and Gentile with one law, (Num 15:15-16, 29) one savior (Yeshua), one mediator (Yeshua), one High Preist (Yeshua), one Adon (Yeshua), one Elohim (Abba, Avinu Shebashamayim). We are to stay as we were when we were called, Gentile’s are not Ephraimites, were Gentile’s, saved in Messiah with one law, one Savior, one High Preist, one way, one G-d, one L-rd. Our hearts are circumcised of our “goyim, gentile” ways and should seek to go and sin no more, to learn to become sanctified and set apart, to be baptized into the body of Messiah through cultural immersion into our Jewish heritage in our spiritual lineage through Yeshua.

If Constantine institutionalized “Christianity” (a form of blended pagan-christianism, The Harlot of Revelation, which is part of the Mystery Religion of Babylon) by accepting a mocking term for early believers and as a Roman Byzantine religion and if you accept Rabbinic Judaism as binding together Jewish faith as a national identity then you may have issues with a Torah based Gentile community practicing cultural Jewish things and the Halacha of Judaism, but when you understand Paul’s teaching that we are one in Messiah, neither Jew or Gentile, then we can be one in Torah under Yeshua.

It has interested me how the statement “come let us reason together” in the Tanakh has defined my relationship with Adonai. I love how Judaism embrace’s intellectual debate and discourse and allows a multi-sided and multifaceted discussion. Christian’s many times are too dogmatic and some Messianics bring this Christian zeal over. Second temple Judaism and even early Rabbinic Judaism is not creedal or dogmatic. There are no creed’s in ancient Judaism just Midrash or discussion about how to apply scripture or what we call Halakhah. We are to make right rulings about law and purity and to not causes others to stumble in a matter of law or purity. There discourse are focused in Exegesis pulling out of the text what is there and not Esegesis searching the text to find support to your notion. Much of Judaism is focused on debate in Exegesis where many Christian debates are in Esegesis seeking to find support not pull out from the text its true meaning. There are literal and spiritual implications of passages, yes, both exist. To focus on one and to reject the other is unsound. This is why we find in Talmudic literature the full argument is recorded from all sides. Maybe the focus of unity after the Bar Kokhba revolt in rebellion to the early Messianism and Rome is the foundation but unity in diversity is essential. Uniting with the larger body in Judaism is.

For example most Jews are Conservative in practice, Karaite in Halakha, but Rabbinic in theology. If you talk to any Jewish person Rabbinic is right. But if you ask if they keep Kosher and most follow the Karaite Biblical Kosher abstain from unclean meat, pigs, fish and birds and you’re okay. In practice most are Conservative in Congregational style women may speak or pray but not teach. Liturgy is short not long. Etcetera… Reformed is popular and Orthodox or Rabbinic is a minority in actual practice. There are more Reformed, Conservative and Chassidic movements than Orthodox.

It’s interesting to me what some “Messianics” say have you guys ever considered what Orthodox or Rabbinic means. To have an Orthodox service requires all male leadership, women don’t get to play a prominent role. Men and women are separated by a partition wall. Conservative allow women to speak about as much as Messianics and Christians do maybe more. To be Orthodox you have to follow it fully or you’re not Orthodox. Believing Yeshua makes us non-Orthodox. Reformed is to not biblical period they reject the Law of Moshe. I believe that Rabbinic has the most right understanding. As Messianics who believe Jew and Gentile are one, and there’s neither male nor female in Messiah. When we veer away from Orthodox practice allow things that aren’t allowed in Orthodox practice we have to understand what we are defined as and not just our end goal or deeper values. At best Messianics are truly Conservative in practice. Most Messianics are one part Christian in which their Christian ideals trump their Jewish views and are secondly then with Messiah practicing a form or Judaism we are calling Messianic. Messiah and His priesthood does majorly impact our practice and our lack of need for a temple for Yeshua’s body is our temple, our sacrifice, and He is the head of our priestly order. We still practice the festivals as the Rabbinic and Pharisee’s did without a temple during the Babylonian captivity and post-temple destruction. We don’t have to make excuses for why we do the Halakha, Keshurut, the Festivals, for our Temple is heavenly and priesthood is eternal after Malki-tzedek. At the time that the Council of Yavneh was convened the Jerusalem Council also was convened during the same pre-post-temple destruction period. There are two branches of Judaism that mainly existed with their own separate bet din’s. We as Messianics stand by the last Bet din of Jerusalem as well as taking time to listen to and consider the ways of the Pharasaic and Rabbinic Council as well. We have the Gospels and Epistles and use the Talmud, Mishna and G’morrah to make informed discussion on Halakha.

The Messianic movement itself is immature and young. If you look at the lack of unity, splits and divisions. There are a lot and it is a very young group. We are apart of it. We must consider what we believe and do and how it would be seen by others. Titles have more to do with preparing people for what you do and are more than who you “want” to be. We as a group do not practice Orthodox or Rabbinic Judaism. We may believe its right but I don’t think we’re ready to have the women wait to speak til their home with the husbands. And I’m not saying we should. I am saying that our observance falls into what is called Conservative Judaism in the realms of Judaism. Should we seek to be a part of the Orthodox Minority or the Conservative-Reformed Majority. Or should we let the chips fall where they may that we are a cross-breed of Karaite-Conservative-Reform-Messianic Judaism at best.

Most Messianics follow the Karaite tradition which simply put is putting Torah first with some respect to Oral Tradition. Within the Talmud and Rabbinic writings there is much about the Karaite tradition. During the middle age’s the Karaite’s were the largest Jewish body due to the persecution of the middle ages. They we’re all but extinct by the time of the Reformation. The modern Karaites are not connected to the ancient Karaites and seem to be a small heretical cult that is anti-Christian. True Karaite faith started in the second century and peaked around 1,100. Modern Karaism is not connected to the ancient path’s. Karaite’s allowed women to have an equal place in prayer and worship unlike the Rabbinic and Orthodox. The Karaite’s are a branch of the Sadducees. The early believers we’re called Sadducees, Nazarenes and Karaites in Talmudic writings. This doesn’t mean they we’re because they allowed women to speak, upheld scripture they were labeled unorthodox.

The early believers were also called or believed to be Essenes who came from the community Qumran community from where we get the Dead Sea Scroll’s according to some Rabbinic assertions in the Talmud. The Essenes believed that Messiah would come twice once as a priest and secondly as reigning King. Those who greeted Yeshua at His circumcision who said they we’re waiting for Him most likely were Essenes. Historically that is the case. As I said we have to study out second temple Judaism fully. Paul was a Pharisee and wrote most of the New Testament. Understanding the Pharisee’s (who became the Rabainites or Rabbinic), the Essenes’ and the Sadducees’ (who became the ancient Karaites) and the Netzorim is key. The Ebionites believed Yeshua was Messiah but not God as did the Karaites in later traditions, some not all. The Sadducees and Karaites have been open to Messiah Yeshua where as Rabbinic or Pharisaic hasn’t. Paul was a Pharisee and believed in foreknowledge. The Essenes believed in predestination. The Sadducees’ believed in Freewill. This debate can also be seen played out amongst Armenian and Calvinistic Protestants (the Offspring of the Catholic “Harlot” Church). The Essenes and Qumran believed in two comings, one as a priest and the second as a king. The NT support Pharisaic and Essenes ideas more than Sadducees. Paul is more Pharisaic. Yeshua is somewhere in the middle. Yeshua even refers to a group of Essenes’ in one of his parables. Having said all that Rabbinic is the only clear line of connection to ancient Judaism today so we must respect them. Most Jews are mostly Conservative and only keep biblical Kosher not Rabbinic kosher, only 2 to 5 percent actually keep with Orthodoxy. Most Jews aren’t Orthodox. If you’re trying to reach Jews by catering to a select few we will marginalize ourselves. Just saying. They usually vote liberal more Jews are liberal than conservative. The world of Judaism is not ultra-Orthodoxy as in the time of Yeshua there are different branches and factions today. Kabballist, Chassidic, Lubavitchers, Orthodox, Yiddish, Conservative and Reformed among others.

Josephus was a Pharisee and he said the Sadducees were popular up until 70 AD at the destruction of the temple. In this internet age anyone can search to find support for what they believe that is called Esegesis. Exegesis is where you go into the text and pull out what is there. Christians mostly do Esegesis and Jewish scholars do Exegesis for the most part. The Sadducees controlled the temple during the period between 3 BC to 70 AD. Josephus (a Pharisee) and others say the Sadducees were more popular. Josephus is a credible and reliable Jewish source from that time period and such is more credible than any modern perspective. For every scholar saying one thing there are others debating against it.

The Essenes are most likely the group Christianity came out of, along with the Pharisees. The NT is mostly a Pharisaic document with some Essen influence Apocalyptic books like the book of Revelation and statements in Matthew. As Paul was a Pharisee. Yeshua seemed to agree with the Pharisees but at times also with the Sadducees. When asked about Resurrection of the Soul Yeshua said Adonai is Elohim of the living and not the dead which isn’t exactly an answer to the question. It’s obvious that Paul believed in the Resurrection, as do I. Yeshua would rebuke the Pharisees and Sadducees but then would be very enigmatic when questioned by them.

The Pharisees ran the Synagogues and by extension Rabbinic Judaism. The Sadducees ran the priesthood and the scribes. However there were also Essenes, Pharisees and Sadducees who were priests, scribes and rabbis. The Pharisee’s believed in the priesthood of the believer and through the Synagogue believed in educating the people. The Sadducee’s and Essenes’ accused the Pharisees of being Hellenistic. The Pharisee’s accused the Sadducees of being élite, rich and disconnected. They were political parties in a sense. The Pharisees were lawyers or teachers of the Law. The Sadducees were scribes and were in charge of the High Priest under Herod, Herod II and Pontius. The Pharisees became Rabbinic Judaism and the Sadducees became the Karaites. In the Middle Ages the Karaites where the largest group peaking around 1,100 AD. After that the began to diminish. Then during the enlightenment those who focused on education became more prominent.

All modern groups come from Rabbinic. Orthodox, Conservative and Reformed honor Rabbinic interpretation. Conservative is the most popular, the Reformed and then Orthodox is a minority of 2 to 5 percent. Reformed breaks Torah in things and I feel they are not credible. Most Messianics are Conservative in Observance in that they allow women to speak and pray. Messianics do the same but for other reasons because Paul said there is no male or female in Messiah. Most Jewish people keep the Biblical Kosher mainly abstaining from unclean meats in line with the Karaite tradition. Those who keep Rabbinic Kosher are a small minority. We as believers should study the Second Temple period mainly the Essenes, Pharisees, and Sadducees. In the post temple Period we should study the Netzorim, Ebionites, Pharisees, Rabbinic, Saducees and the early pre-Karaites.

In modern times Rabbinic is top dog. The modern Karaites are not connected to the ancient one’s. Pharisee’s in the Talmud called Christian’s Sadducees’ and Sectarians because they were of the Sect of the Netzorim. It obvious from Paul that the early believers considered themselves to be more Pharisaic. However that is not what the Pharisee’s believed. That is historically true and correct. The Essenes and Pharisees are the group the early believers came out of. I say more Pharisee but there is evidence that they were strongly Essen. The believers were associated with the Sadducees by the Pharisees and others. All three groups should be studied.

Number of Jewish Messianic Houses of Worship approaching 300 in the U.S. and Canada

Bill Koene of ChristianSourceLists.com reports that, based on exhaustive research in the last six months, a total of 284 active Messianic congregations have been identified in the United States and Canada: 272 in the U.S. and twelve in Canada. This number does not include small house-church fellowships.

This is a remarkable number, given that fifty years ago there were only a handful of houses of worship in North America that were identified as distinctively Jewish Messianic congregations.

Of the total number of Messianic congregations in the U.S. today, interestingly, almost one-half can be found in just five states: Florida (28), New York (26), California (26), Pennsylvania (20), and Texas (20). The three cities that can boast the most Messianic worship centers are: Manhattan (12), Miami (10), and Philadelphia (8).

The term “Messianic Judaism” is understood to mean acceptance of Jesus Christ as being the Messiah (“Yeshua Ha’Mashiach”), the second person of the Trinity, through faith in whom salvation is obtained.

Although the term “Messianic Judaism” can be traced back as early as the late nineteenth century where it was used as such in Our Hope, a major evangelical magazine (1895), it did not gain prominence until the early 1970’s. The initial growth of this movement seems to parallel the “charismatic movement” of the 1970’s, with the vast majority of the Messianic congregations themselves being charismatic in their theological orientation (believing in the gifts [charisma] of the Holy Spirit: tongues, healing, etc.).

By 2003 the number of Jewish Messianic congregations had grown to an estimated total of 150. Today the Messianic movement is a global phenomenon, with most estimates placing the number in excess of 400 Messianic congregations world-wide.

Vayechi | ויחי | “He lived”

The last reading from the book of Genesis is named Vayechi (ויחי), which means “and he lived.” The title comes from the first verse of the reading, which says, “Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years” (Genesis 47:28). In this Torah portion, Jacob prepares for his death by securing a double portion of inheritance for Joseph and then blessing each of his sons with prophetic blessings. The book of Genesis ends with the death of Jacob, followed shortly by the death of Joseph and a promise of redemption from Egypt.
